Octopus 3rd Gear May 26, 2008 Share May 26, 2008 [reply] There was some engine oil consumption after I did top overhaul (before overhaul no oil consumption at all), but there was no black/blue smoke from exhaust nor oil leak....not sure where the oil goes to. You mentioned about oil consumption after the overhaul... Does the engine overhaul made your car worse? Or was it only for a transition period? After overhaul the engine feel slightly more lively. Only consumption of around 1 to 2 quartz over 10k km. Before overhaul there was no oil consumption at all for 10k km. Drive it for >1 year before changing car, oil consumption still there. I don't think its burn up cos exhaust looks clean, no smoke during acceleration. No leakage as well. Not sure if its the PCV which is causing the oil consumption? ↡ Advertisement
Enots Clutched May 27, 2008 Share May 27, 2008 Hi guys, Just to check...... I am driving a 1.8L civic and bought 4 bottles of AMSOIL (4 qrts or 3.785 Lit) for my 10K servicing. Just to be sure the volume is sufficient, I call up KAH mechanics and they say they normally use up 4L of HELIX. Any bros out there is driving a 1.8L civic and has tried using engine oils in "qrt"? Are 4 bottles enough? If not, I have to rush down and get another bottle tomorrow night.....servicing is on 29th.... Thanks for the information!!! Flee Neutral Newbie June 24, 2008 Share June 24, 2008 I used the Amsoil 5-30 for my last OCI. Previously, used different oils, from RP to Mobil to Fuchs etc...Well, i really love Amsoil compared to the rest. My engine feels smoother, even though i reach my next OCI liao. Previously, in the past, hit 8K already feel that my engine is a bit rough. Anyway, just bought Redline as well as Amsoil from MX. Going to try out Redline to see whether got diff or not from Amsoil. Btw, you can try out their new delivery service. Nice frdly guy by the name of Jonathan. I called them yesterday afternoon and explained that i had difficulty collecting at Ubi, and Jonathan managed to pass me the oil by last nite. Impressed with their service and frdly attitude! Cheers! Zakuii 1st Gear June 24, 2008 Share June 24, 2008 I have used redline and RP in my previous ride. In my current ride, I've used Shell and currently cxxxxxe. I find cxxxxxe 5w30 as good as RP or redline, with shell (no-no).
