OE series is in fact the lowest end series engine oil from Amsoil while the 100% series has change it's name to "signature series".

 

Low tier OE series

Mid tier XL series

Top tier Signature series

The demise of US$ is not necessary a good thing for small time retailer like us, this is the 3rd time USA supplier is slapping the cost increase on us. Main reason why is because they don't dig the crude themselves but buy from the middle east with US$, now that US$ is crap, they have to pay more before the the Arabs are willing to sell it to them. You don't have to worry about your oil change, in Singapore we have garages around town that gives you extensive service and diagnostic machines to take care of your BMW. Of course, they will also have the selections of AMSOIL right off the shelf, so you don't have order from any dealer.

 

I think my recommendations to you is to check with your dealer whether you have servicing warranty?

This has always been an interesting Topic.

 

I wrote this couple of weeks ago, and i thought i can share it here with all of you.

 

What is wrong with the AMSOIL Signature Series 0W30?

 

Today, if you ever take a ride down to AUTOBACS in Singapore, you will find yourself flooded with at least 100 different oil brands laying on the shelf hoping you will pick them. Aggressive brands like X-Rev, OWS and/or other makes of oil from all over the world gather here. It is like a union for all oils gather in one place, each with their own marketing materials pushing to sell you the idea, that they are the best.

 

For those of you whom had literacy over engine oils, you will realize that there is no such thing as the best oil. Motul being the leading brand in performance series may not outshine HKS in their effort to deliver the best quality. The true fact is, each oil is made for a reason, and these brand owners investment to engineer these products have their business agendas, including cost cutting, brand positioning so on and so forth.

 

For AMSOIL (amsoil), particularly the hardcore fans of the Signature Series 0W30, we have customers that complained about the performance, down right to the fuel savings and the expectations on them were under delivered. Tall fairy tales were illustrated on web forums and blogs, none of each may be the same engine specifications and/or usage that is similar to yours. If you are one of these

back to this thread.. looking for feedback from bros using amsoil 5w30

 

have been using amsoil for the 2nd time oil change.. do you still change your amsoil 5w30 at your specified servicing intervals? my car's recommended is every 10K km for oil change.. i used to do that, as my past oils used always feels sluggish after 7000km.. mine current oil is currently on 10K++ km milage.. and the best part is, it still feels smooth

 

amsoil claims for Normal Service – "Up to 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first"

 

just wondering any fellow bros actually follows the above, and maybe change the oil later.. say at 15K or 20K.. i'm thinking of changing my motor oil at a later interval..

 

or change the 5w30 after one year, 25,000 miles ( = 40000km) in one year is way too much and not too realistic for SG cars

I've passed by the tebrau highway and noticed the familiar autobac workshop. Anyone has any experiences in doing your car maintenance in JB?

the engine is actually still smooth even at 12k KM. but why save until like that? just change. It's just a matter of time that you need to change anyway. our SG traffic is city driving, low speed and hot weather, the engine is under more stress.

 

In fact, i just change my Amsoil. And it was ONE year since i change. The last change was in Oct 2010. And i just changed on 2 Oct 2011, after travelling for 12k KM.

 

I love this Amsoil.

Average market price to change in SG is S$30-S$35 (labour only) for engine oil, oil filter and spark plugs, and some other usual checks on engine, brake pads etc.

Btw, just a piece of warning for those buying Amsoil or other API:SN oils.

 

If yours is an old car using flat tappets, do NOT use API:SN oils. This is due to insufficient ZDDP inside the oil that can use excessive cam lobe wear. If you use SN oils, you need to add additional ZDDP additives.

 

This does not affect newer engines using roller tappets.
