yes, much nicer after facelift. No more Daewoo lookalike. Which is why I like Vivant but did not buy because the OMV is damn low (compared to Optra).

Thanks for the recommendation.

I am thinking to upgrade the player to Woodstock DAB52 ($599) with the In-dash CD changer IDC-A09 ($389) but it's quite expensive [sweatdrop].

As for RIM, thinking to upgrade to 15 inch light weight Taiwan RIM with Pilot Preceda.

I top up $1k for the leather seats.

Yes, the new FL Optra is looks much better the current Optra. The only thing that I don't like on the current Optra (cosmetic) is the front grill.

Hope we can mod our current Optra to the new look later.

The price quoted by Chuan Hifi for Woodstock DAB52 is $599 with installation. I think this is the promotion price for Blaupunkt.

Woodstock DAB52 @ 599 and DAB 53 @ 719

- Free return ticket to Bangkok worth $250

- Free Blaupunkt DAB on-glass antenna worth S$199

In-dash CD charger IDAC-09 - $380.

yup..tat's correct...

and the rainbow speakers favoured by Chuan is going for ard $4xx; a lower spec is going for $3xx. He commented tat the front door frame cant accomodate the blaunpunkt velocity.

anyway my last job done in hong guan cost ~ $1600 !!!

items include: front comp speakers (velocity series), cadence preamp, infinity power amp, accumat on both front doors, heat insulation foam on the bonet,,,

massive job..took almost 10 hrs to complete !! but the heat insulation foam was poorly done..send an email to complain and the boss ask me to go down to redo the job !!

as for the ICE, I will say they are good.

HG is reknown for high price....but their workmanship is good...

in fact their reputation is spreaded by words of mouth.

anyway do shop ard and see wat other shops will offer in order to get value for money.

I was the guinea pig that Chuan found out Velocity was too deep to accommodate. What happened was that the speaker was so deep that the window could not wind down completely. The problem was resolved after they elevated the speaker sufficienly with wooden ring. Now I just love the sound [:)]

I must say that the single biggest change to better sound quality are the speakers. Optra stock speakers are simple not up or even near to the mark. Next is the head unit. Mine is Woodstock DAB52. FM and CD/MP3 sound reproduction are acceptable but not fanstatic due to the lack of tone control (only 5-bands equalizer, loudness, treble and bass controls to the 2 channels). However, the DAB sound quality is fanstatic. In addition, there are a few more stations not available in FM.

Chuan knows how to modify the Optra stock double-din HU cum 5-disc changer so that you can retain the changer with a new HU.

The speakers have to be elevated with wooden ring blocks and risk being in contact with the door covers. Fortunately, that didn't happen [sweatdrop]

Perhaps Chuan wants to play safe and hence recommends Rainbow instead. I must say I am very happy with the sound quality of Velocity though.

Fortunately the window was only scrapping the end of the speaker when I discovered the problem, so there was no damage. Oh, it was SA that discovered the problem when I sent for 1K servicing [laugh] and I went back to Chuan to rectify the problem.

I did comtemplate getting an amplifier, but didn't as the sound is good enough for me after replacing the stock speakers.

My front speakers are Velocity VRX 170 and the rear speakers are Blaupunkt GTx 542.
