Noticed that for all Evos, there's always this low rumbling exhaust note.

This is present even though it's 100% stock exhaust system.

 

Is this sound purely the function of the exhaust system or does the turbocharger also plays a part?

How to achieve this same sound on a NA car?

For NA car,you are not able to get that sound unless your car is turbocharge

more air = louder engine.. u can try installing an open pod filtre + straight through muffler.. + bigger exhaust pipes..

 

u'll get a more bassy exhaust sound.. besides that.. you might also get fined..

change your extractor to unequal length and operate your muffler.

NA cars do have sexy, bassy rumbling exhaust notes as well: usually the more powerful ones though. The BMW 330i I was driving with it's straight six has these sound qualities. When passing through tunnels, you just wanna lower your windows and listen to the sweet sounds

 

My friend's Alfa 2.0 147 with supersprint exhaust also sounds goods, but not as bassy.

 

Of course, other NA cars like Ferraris boast such exhaust notes, but these are really beyond reach!
