1990 nissan 180sx, thats y i'm asking abt the type 2. OBD compliant cars (basically most of the new cars anyway are that) will be using type 1. A type 3 will be coming out for the older toyotas like the AE86.

Thanks exactly what i was looking for, the shops that sell them.

Manual, CA18DET. I bought it from this girl who's uncle imported it from japan for her. Her uncle owns an import shop in melb. Drives really good. Compared to SR's the power difference isn't much stock, and I find the CA's more rev happy. Car came with suspension fully set up for drift so it was really easy to get my bum out. Adjusted everything now and it handles like crazy. Aftermarket parts are more exp, but standard parts are way cheaper than for an SR. Even after I blew the turbo (of sorts) she had pretty good acceleration. She should be on the tarck by june so i can't wait for that!!!

Its to monitor the car system. like a whole bunch of gauges bunched together in a single digital display. It plugs into the ECU and you can see whats going on. easier and much cheaper than getting a whole bunch of gauges.

Erm... Sorry, it doesn't mender with your ECU. It goes into ur OBD. There are 2 types of OBD. Type 1 and type 2. Type 2 is a the lastest ones while type 1 is a the old type. FYI, OBD stands for Onboard Dignostics.

Hmmz... well for the 180 the r-vit type 2 plugs into the ECU. They type 2 was designed for the 89 to 92??? nissans. The diagnostic port is linked to the ecu in my front left kick panel. I just assumed that the OBD1 and 2 ports would be with linked with the ECU like mine.

genie, if u don't need the tuning from the rfit, the easiest multi purpose display is the defi one. however it doesnt get linked to the ECU but it has its own sensors, and the link control unit is needed. Ends up roughly around the same price as the rvit in aust.

You can ask them to demo before you buy if you are worried. Installation is pretty fast, about 10-15 minutes. However, the manual on what items that can be displayed for the various cars contains only Japanese cars.
