Josephtan1234 Neutral Newbie January 15, 2005 Share January 15, 2005 Hi Bros, need your advice. Should I choose the hatch back or saloon version of the Mazda 6 2.0 ? Teh hatchback looks more sportier, but the fifth door seal can let in noise over time. Also when the boot is opened and you need to open the boot, the rain will get onto the rear seat passengers. Anyone encountered any problems like these ? Thanks ↡ Advertisement
Mojoe Neutral Newbie January 15, 2005 Share January 15, 2005 it's a matter of personal choice right? no right or wrong but just curious.. who told you about the 5th door letting in noise over time? not sure what you mean by rain getting onto the rear seat... why open when raining? probably don't have to keep doing it right? I don't remember opening my boot often when it's raining. perhaps not opening it fully will prevent rain getting onto the seat? in anycase I don't think it's a problem right? just need to wipe off the rain water my 1st car was a 6 year old hatch when I got it, my current car is a hatch, but none of them have the above problems... unless what you are saying is specific to Mazda 6? Josephtan1234 Neutral Newbie January 17, 2005 Author Share January 17, 2005 The noise problem was with my previous ride, not the Mz6, it was also a hatch. It only happened at high speed, could be the rubber seal was worn out. Btw, I was at the service center today, the SE was showing me some HBs as they dont have any in the showroom. The one he showed me was involved in a heavy accident on the front. He opened the rear door to show me how it works. I noticed the hinges were rusted very badly. It seems like Mazda did not rust proofed the hinges which the dampers are connected to. So, HB owners, you might want to make sure you have an extra layer of paint or some rust prevention on those hinges. I think it was bacause of the rain flowing down the run offs around the rear door. Mojoe Neutral Newbie January 18, 2005 Share January 18, 2005 Oh really? Maybe my previous ride didn't have good sound proof anyway so wind noise already quite bad, front or back current one too new to tell .. but i thought generally wind noise is more prevalent in the front? case in point, it's always louder when i wind down the front window than the back.. it's probably true of all hatch on the hinges, though i don't remember seeing it in my previous hatch which is partial Mazda as well . But I tend to spray silicon spray to lub those places, so i guess that helps to prevent rust... i hope... ↡ Advertisement
