Takanori Neutral Newbie February 18, 2005 Share February 18, 2005 (edited) Dun need ask much, change to mineral oil. 1k only bro, ur engine still not run in yet. New car is lidat 1, after run in, u will feel engine smoother. Mineral oil is heavier than synthetic so will allow those small metal particles from the new engine parts to wear off n settle below. Instead of lighter synthetic tat will allow the metal to flow in the oil n rub against the engine parts when it's runs. Wear n tear occurs thus shorten engine lifespan. When u go 4 5k den change 4 betta oil since juz use only 5k den throw away will b abit wasted. Tat's wat my instructor whom has work on engine many yrs told me. Depend on u, other ppl hav diff tinking as dey tink gd oil will of coz b gd but to me in on diff situation. Staff Neutral Newbie February 25, 2005 Share February 25, 2005 just went for the 1k service , notice on their board that only 10k servicing then change to syn oil ?? 5k servicing still under the mineral oil ga??!! at night testing crusing at 110km along highway , damn shiok as can feel the speed ! when back to normal crusing after some supper , travel at 80km , wah liao like very slow liao , i tot i am crusing at 60km like tat. i dare not go higher than 2.5k rpm 110km , cos with the mineral oil , Or is it advisable to maintain 90km before the 5k service? cos when i reach home , i found the engine is rather bit more noisy than before i start to crusie at higher speed lei
Coes Neutral Newbie February 26, 2005 Share February 26, 2005 (edited) Hi guys, i didnt get my COE during the 2nd Feb bid. I went for unguaranteed bidding, 2k lesser than the listed price. The SE gave me a few options: (i) see my chances in the other 3 bids; (ii) go for guaranteed bidding next round, effectively this means getting the car at the current listed price; (iii) top up now. Any advice??? I am not sure which way the COE price is likely to go... Edited February 26, 2005 by Coes
Silver_blade Turbocharged February 26, 2005 Share February 26, 2005 It is not the speed of the car travelling that you should worrya bout, but the rpm. Most car (check your car manual) reccomended run-in rpm is not exceeding 3,000. So you should be able to travel at more than 90km/h easily. Also my car manufacturer advice the driver to travel at different gear at different rpm and drive at the same speed and rpm for a certain period of time. Takanori Neutral Newbie February 26, 2005 Share February 26, 2005 no harm lah, dun wori. I always travel ard 110km/h along xpressway. But now I drive ard 100+ onli coz my pts n $ r very precious to me. Sumtimes muz oso let ur engine used to high speed. However I noticed my petrol evaporated after long time no drive coz I stay in camp. My FC increased. So when wkend cum out faster go drive more n longer distance to increase my mileage. Jansen Neutral Newbie March 6, 2005 Share March 6, 2005 Hi Chevee5 Colour of personal car is very very personal; hard for anyone to recommend you here. I also go through same challenge choosing color for my optra5. The point is you MUST choose a colour that you love, can stand, feast your eyes on because you are going to stare, sit and show off to your friends, relatives to.... Just my 02 cents worth of advice :) Jansen

Staff Neutral Newbie March 6, 2005 Share March 6, 2005 depends on if u want something for easy maintain or striking colour . personally i find my red optra tends to get those dust fast . so gonna have it wash every week the least .
Coes Neutral Newbie March 10, 2005 Share March 10, 2005 Hi guys,i didnt get my COE during the 2nd Feb bid. I posed this query earlier but there were no comments from anybody. I will really appreciate some advice but it seems that this topic doesnt interest anyone. This being the case, can you let me now if there are some forums out there that discusses COE prices. I really need some advice. Thanks.
