I have just upgraded my component speaker to MA audio 5 1/4" (140W) connected to a 1000W amp. However with engine at idle the tweeter is making a tick tick sound. When driving, i can hear my engine roar from the tweeter. When playing using battery power, all the noise is not vaild. Anyone know what's wrong, please advise. Thanks.

Hi RDTWS: The most likely cause is due to poor grounding of your amplifier and poor interconnects used. If the connections mentioned above are confirmed good, then you probably need to install a device called Alternator Noise Filter for the DC supply to your ICE units. Hope my suggestions help...

You have the dreaded aeroplane sound...

What could happen is that your installer have route the signal cables too close to the power cable hence its electrical interference that your tweeter is picking up.

I suggest that you ask your installer to re route the wiring. Do not accept them using a gadget call the suppressor to cure this....its a easy and lazy way to solve this problem.

The gadget you referring to is the suppresor. Dun use that. It sucks power off your system. A good installer will not use it to solve the problem. The best way is to re wire the whole system.

My suggestion to using the noise suppressor which is passive by nature whould not suck up power like you mentioned, it only filter the noise element by shorting them to ground. It should be used as a last alternative if all ways like proper orientation of cables, proper grounding and quality cables and connectors are used.

You might want to start with just moving the tweeter wiring from the cross over into a different position first. If that works, you save yourself a lot of trouble. Mine was solved that way.

bro, poor installer.normally if u put all the cables together u will get this problem.i believe yr installer put all the audio cables in one location .eg all at right side towards the rear rite or all at the left side towards the rear .just reinstall again .put yr power cable on the left and all others cables on the right .that should be alright.

No shortcut, re-wire your system using installer who knows what they're doing.

I have this problem also. I believe you have the Lanzar 424? I managed to solve it by lowering the gain on the amplifier (while engine is running). Try it before doing all the rewiring and supressor stuff. wink.gif
