Golfer Neutral Newbie February 24, 2005 Share February 24, 2005 Hi, I am driving a Sunny (A) 1.6 and collected my car in nov 04. The service program is Mileage: 1,000 Km, 5,000 Km, 10,000 Km or 1 mth, 3 mth or 6 mths. Singaporean average mileage is 20,000 to 25,000 Km per year thus there is no different between mileage and time. Because I am also on 2 yrs maintenance program, my car will have free servicing at Milage at 20,000 km, 30,000 km, 40,000 km and 50,000 km. The mileage above is absolute and not relative. It should right as TC uses mineral engine oil at 1k, 5k and then change to Fully Synthetic at 10k so that when reaches 20k, another round of fully synthetic oil will be change. Sunny maintenance program goes up till 130,000 km or 78 months. Hope this helps. Cheers,
Genie47 1st Gear February 24, 2005 Share February 24, 2005 TC's mineral oil and even synthetic oil is damn heavy at 50wt. All the Sunny complain FC sky high. I know TC don't charge for the oil (or do they). Best change to 5W30 or 10W30 at 10k. If can help FC by freeing horsepower (can gain back 6% according to Silkolene study) it will be good. Petrol not cheap.
Golfer Neutral Newbie February 25, 2005 Share February 25, 2005 Hi Genie47, Do direct me to the thread on Synthetic Oil. Can I find it in Performance forum? I know you did some writeup on FC vs Synthetic/Mineral Oil thus not proper for me to ask the "why" question else you will be bored going through all over again. Thanks for your advise. Cheers,
Smiley Neutral Newbie February 25, 2005 Share February 25, 2005 i went fr my 1k at 1k. i went fr my 10k at 10k, not 10+1=11k.
Acemundo Supercharged February 25, 2005 Share February 25, 2005 brother, these schedules are not gospel....miss a bit is ok.... so whether 1,5,10 or 1,6,11 doesn't make that much of difference
Genie47 1st Gear February 25, 2005 Share February 25, 2005 (edited) Actually put very simply, FC between synthetic and mineral oil is not different. It is the oil's viscosity that plays the major part. Synthetic or mineral only comes into play when you want long drain because synthetic oil can hold their grade for longer mileage. That is why I recommend either a 5W30 or 10W30 for normal driving in a relatively young car with <400k km of engine mileage. Come to think of it, even COE car also very difficult to achieve this kind of mileage. There are many threads on oil in the Performance and even Maintenance folder. Just use the Search Luke..... Warlord Clutched February 27, 2005 Author Share February 27, 2005 They ask me to come for my "5k" servicing when my meter reading is 6k(1k+5K). But ask me to come for my 10k servicing at 11k. Shouldn't it be at 16k(6k+10k)?
Genie47 1st Gear February 27, 2005 Share February 27, 2005 I think the free servicing is only for 1k, 5k and 10k. If you bring in at 15-16k, they will say you are disqualified.
Beast Neutral Newbie April 6, 2005 Share April 6, 2005 It cannot be 16k... coz at yor 5k servicing, they still change to mineral oil rite?? mineral oil last u only 5000km... hence at ~10k must service liao...
Silver_blade Turbocharged April 6, 2005 Share April 6, 2005 When they say '1K', '5k', '10k'...they actually meant '1k', '5k', '10k, etc as per your odo reading.....not 1k+5k+10k, etc... ↡ Advertisement
