Daystar_70 Neutral Newbie February 28, 2005 Share February 28, 2005 Normally the labour is $50 & the rest depends on the amount & type of your ATF. If I bring my own ATF, KATC charge me $50 for the labour charge. 70K km is already over the recommended OCI. Remember the dirtier the oil, the more oil u will need to use during the flush. I use RP Max, synthetic Dexron III ATF. Costs about $9 per qt. Average I use 18 Qts per flush. I do a flush every 50K km. (10K km before due) as I think it's cheap insuarance for my auto box. If u use Diaqueen, check around if they have a synthetic ATF, although I never heard of it yet. Or better still, check with KATC if they have synthetic Diaqueen ATF & how much is it. Thanks. Who is the person to look for at KATC?? dont want anyone to caRRot my car in slipslop manner. ↡ Advertisement

Pisces69 6th Gear February 28, 2005 Share February 28, 2005 Thanks. Who is the person to look for at KATC?? dont want anyone to caRRot my car in slipslop manner. ========================== Look for Albert at KATC Woodlands. Don't know if he still there as last i was there was more tham 1 year back. Talk to him as a friend & see what he advises u. If you feel comfortable, try them. If u don't, U can try so many places who have the machine to do the autobox flush. Always try to talk to the person in charge, if u don't feel comfortable, move on. I don't like to talk to the mechs when I 1st try a w/shop. Some r real as*holes & don't know what they r talking about.
Pisces69 6th Gear February 28, 2005 Share February 28, 2005 4 liters seems very little for a flush. My flushing always takes about 15 to 20 lit depending on how dirty it was to start with. The flushing machine got 2 transparent tubes to see the colour of the ATF. One going in & the other coming out. When the colour of the ATF in BOTH tubes r the same, the job is complete. I prefer to use more ATF then save this $$$ and get a job not well done. What's the point of flushing if you don't get it fully clean. Normal drain & fill method, u use only about 3 lit of ATF, but still got about 3 lit of dirty ATF still inside your autobox. So u only get half protection. Just like want to save $$$, use expired condom. Risky for both of you, right?
Laser Neutral Newbie February 28, 2005 Author Share February 28, 2005 Just called up ProServ, they are charging about $168 for ATF flush. For my case can I do the flush cause I just changed the oil about 4 days ago? Laser
Genie47 1st Gear February 28, 2005 Share February 28, 2005 Eh? You got install magnet for AT or not? Can help attract the metal bits instead of allowing them to circulate. Good for AT. Maybe can fashion one out DIY. I got to check. Lots of US guys doing that.
Genie47 1st Gear February 28, 2005 Share February 28, 2005 You use RP Max EZ PS fluid. How is it? Good or not? How much per qt?
Dwoon 1st Gear February 28, 2005 Share February 28, 2005 KATC already moved outta Woodlands lah....... in AMK now. BTW, they don't have much variety of ATF for a so called specialist. 15 to 20 ltrs to flush......... wah lau eh....... you must be very rich to waste so much oil. I used only 10 quarts to do the total change out of ATF. My Auto trans needs 9.2 quarts and only 0.8 qrts went to waste.
Daystar_70 Neutral Newbie March 1, 2005 Share March 1, 2005 I just did the ATF Flush with KATC @ Sin Min. I took the standard package (for OEM oil)for $199. The standard is to replace 10litres of ATF. Then additional charges for filter & oil pan replacement. So all in all, around $270 w/ GST. Felt much smoother for my ride now. Raymond was the one I talked to and his workers are friendly and knowledgable. I personally felt it is money well spent. 2 cents worth.
Alant 1st Gear March 1, 2005 Share March 1, 2005 Hi, heard that for COE car...better not to flush the auto tranny, just do drain and fill. But the ATF will not be completly new, still got old ATF inside. Drain and fill or flush every time or combo of both? Any advise? Thanks.

Alant 1st Gear March 1, 2005 Share March 1, 2005 So ATF flushing is more recommended. Thanks. If using mineral ATF...is the flush interval of 20000km sufficent?

Maybe can fashion one out DIY. I got to check. Lots of US guys doing that. ========================== Simple way is to get some strong magnets & just stick them to the outside of the auto box. It will magnetize the area inside the autobox & all the metal bits will be stuck there. Place them near the drain plug sud b best. Same for engine oil. Just place those magnets on the outside of the oil filter & all the metal bits will get stuck to the oil filter wall. When u change filter, all the metal gets thrown away too. Pisces69 6th Gear March 1, 2005 Share March 1, 2005 You use RP Max EZ PS fluid. How is it? Good or not? How much per qt? ======================== I'm using RP Max Synthetic ATF. It's Dexron III & cost about $9 per qt. (Packed in 1 qt plastic bottles) So far so good. Shifts r smooth & since it's synthetic, it takes high temp much better than mineral ATF. My autobox OCI is 60k km but I normally flush at 50K km.

I used only 10 quarts to do the total change out of ATF. My Auto trans needs 9.2 quarts and only 0.8 qrts went to waste. ============================ How did u manage to get ALL the ATF out of the autobox? If u use the drain plug, U only get about half of the ATF out as there's still alot of it in the upper part & all the little channels & compartments inside the autobox. I tried the drain tru the drain plug b4 & ran the car at idle & in "D" with the plug hole open. I managed to get somemore ATF out but was advised against doing this as u might burn the clutch plates if it gets too dry when u use this method. The price I pay of about $200 plus for a proper flush is worth the $$$ I think as I do it only once exery 2 1/2 to 3 years when i hit 50k km.
Pisces69 6th Gear March 1, 2005 Share March 1, 2005 If using mineral ATF...is the flush interval of 20000km sufficent? ================================= Wheather mineral or synthetic, u can just follow the Owner's Manual recommendations. But I prefer synthetic as it handles high temp better & the main cause of ATF detioration is high heat generated inside the autobox. Mineral ATF will just breakdown when the temp gets too high. ↡ Advertisement
