i'm on DAB 52.

 

Absolutely no reception in tunnels of any sorts, and in covered carparks. that includes MSCPs. Personally, not an issue for me. just switch to normal FM when that occurs. And yes - that auto-switching feature can be abled/disabled on the DAB52.

 

The DAB 52 DOES NOT support MMC card.

 

It is NOT necessary to cut a hole on the solar film where the digital antennae is. Makes no difference to reception, at least on mine. Maybe my solar film is crap, as it does a bad job of keeping heat out. Really, really bad.

Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB52 does support MMC/SD; at least for me. It is a little tricky to get your mp3 songs playing using the card. I'm able to play mp3 songs transferred from PC to the SD card via my Palm Tungsten T. But if I transfer the songs directly from PC to SD using a card reader, it doesn't work..I still don't understand why. Also, the card must be FAT16 formatted and not FAT32.

 

Reception wise....an external DAB antenna greatly improves reception. Not satisfied with the in-car type DAB antenna (I'm using V-kool..probably the reason why my in-car antenna didn't work so well), I recently got myself a magnetic based antenna and stick it on top of my car, gosh...I couldn't believe the improvement. I started getting stronger signals and signals from places I used to have problems getting any. e.g the stretch of Telok Blangah Rd between Alexandra Rd and HarbourFront under the viaduct. I'm suprised I could even get signals from the Basement 3 car park of my office building.

 

Perhaps all those who are interested or sceptical about it can give it a try before committing. I tried it before I bought.

I believe Woodstock DAB52 is discontinued. Can always get DAB53.

I'm sure mine does not. no slot whatsoever for the MMC. perhaps DAB53 does? I dunno about DAB53 so I cannot comment.

 

Does not support MMC does not mean cannot play Mp3. I convert my CDs into MP3s and burn in on a CD with .mp3 extension. Works for me.

 

And yes DAB 52 is discontinued, or in the process of EOL. For those who want to get DAB 52, make sure you bargain hard! (since they gotta clear stock!)

 

I got a brand new set with DAB52 HU, Blaupunkt 4-channel, front and back component speakers and a pair of tweeters during the recent Blaupunkt Sale. Really basic set-up, but sure beats my stock ICE setup.

 

I'm still figuring out how to tune the 5 EQ it to my liking. Tune it one at a time is ok, but once I'm done with all 5, the sound sounds .......... eewww. Anyone with any DAB52 5EQ settings to share? I normally have to turn the vol from 20 and above to hear. Anything less than 20, the sound doesn'y really come through.

There is definitely a slot...remove the faceplate....look on the bottom left...u'll see an unlabelled slot..that's the one...I only realised it few weeks back myself after using it for more than a year...can u believe it. It's DAB 52...DAB53 allows recording on MMC/SD.

 

Sound doesn't really come out? Yes, I experienced it too....after adding a power amp to my setup...Volume at 18 is loud enough for my listening pleasure.

i think u r seriously mistaken.

 

DAB52 - support 256mB MMC or lower

DAB53 - support 512mB MMC or lower

DAB54 - support 1GB MMC or lower

 

check voltage to be sure.

 

but reading off MMC is equally slow as MP3 player.

bro, I'm using my 512mb SD card on my DAB52...works ok. Haven't tried MMC though.

arh... how u managed to push it into the slot???? i've tried 512mB MMC but wun read off it. but I know some of the mp3 r corrupted format. no choice friendly one bah. anyway, after thinking it is cheaper to burn a CD then use MMC.

Getting the SD card into the slot is not a problem. But getting it to read the mp3 files is a big big problem. So far, mp3 files saved from my PC to my PDA (Palm Tungsten T) have no problem playing with my DAB 52. By other means, it just won't read.

cannot leh... last time i try this type of stunt, the SD slot in my IPAQ got damaged, damage = $120.

 

also i try to put into card reader before, cannot fit also.
