Saw a can of VHT paint going for S$9 a can at a Self-Fix DIY shop. But will also need to get other stuff like fine sandpaper etc also. Have been quite busy tho. Turbobrick Neutral Newbie December 2, 2002 Share December 2, 2002 I did DIY painting on my brick's calipers (all 4 done in Silver) with Hammerite paint. First I degreased the calipers and uses a medium sanding block to prep the surface. I didn't use a fine sandpaper as I wanted a rough look, washed the calipers again and painted 2 layers with 20min in between the layers. The entire exercise lasted half day for painting 4 calipers and optional ECA like; rotate tires, clean the inside of the rims and apply Klasse to the rims! What can I use for degreaser ? You painted all calipers at the same time ? Coz I've only got one car jack and only remove one tyre at a time. Think will do a few coats also. And also put on a clear coat if possible. Cheers
GDIzen Neutral Newbie December 3, 2002 Share December 3, 2002 No need to spray black, it becomes that colour once you don't wash! U really should go for some more exotic colour like BLUE, RED or Purple
Assassin Clutched December 3, 2002 Share December 3, 2002 I know...the thing is...once I dun wash...it becomes a greenish blackish colour lah. I was considering red actually....but it would be too conspicuous on my car. Altho there are some tuners that already have a purple and black brake caliper models for my car. Anyway, its gonna have to be one of these 3 colours .... black, red, or purple... in order of preference.
GDIzen Neutral Newbie December 4, 2002 Share December 4, 2002 Here's a thought! Why don't you paint each caliper in one colour/wheel? Super chio and no one has it!!!
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie December 4, 2002 Share December 4, 2002 Hammerite paint can be gotten from Carrefour or Homefix DIY shops. U can get brake parts cleaner from Autobacs or Waterloo Centre, alternatively use engine degreaser. ↡ Advertisement
