Hensony Clutched April 1, 2002 Share April 1, 2002 I received a letter from LTA instructing me to present my car for inspection at Sin Ming Drive. Reason: A report has been filed against my car for having windscreen washers with blue light. Took out the wiring yesterday. Drove all the way to Sin Ming and showed them my car this afternoon. Satisfied them there's no blue light. They let me go. Bloody hell... wasted $45 installing the blue lights.... The inspector told me the blue lights are illegal as they would distract other drivers. Another example of ridiculous LTA rules. Sigh....... ↡ Advertisement
WaLau Neutral Newbie April 1, 2002 Share April 1, 2002 you juz took out the wiring only or the whole washer unit with bulb/casing and replace the original ???
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie April 1, 2002 Share April 1, 2002 Well, U should question them who is going to compensate your loss time then?
Hensony Clutched April 1, 2002 Author Share April 1, 2002 I only removed the wiring. The blue light washers still attached to the bonnet. That puzzled the technician for a while. Luckily he didn't ask me to open the bonnet. Some of the wiring still visible upon close inspection. you juz took out the wiring only or the whole washer unit with bulb/casing and replace the original ??? Hensony Clutched April 1, 2002 Author Share April 1, 2002 I am not pushing my luck any further. To think that out of so many cars with blue light washers I was the only one who kenna the LTA letter makes me wonder whether I'm out of luck..... Sigh......... Mondeo Neutral Newbie April 1, 2002 Share April 1, 2002 LTA claimed that your small small light will affect other drivers, they wont allow this. They can only allow that big big like suntec city out side that screen, that one "NOT AFFECT" the road drivers. Last time, shop lighting also cannot flash, they can allow the x'mas lighting to flash till yr eyes blur.
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie April 2, 2002 Share April 2, 2002 Yah, like the giant LED screen on the Isetan Scott's, flashing non-stop all the time

Hensony Clutched April 2, 2002 Author Share April 2, 2002 Actually my fellow colleague also has the same theory. You see, I work in a building where LTA has an office there too. Maybe I took that f**king LTA officer's favourite parking lot? And he's out for revenge? Nobody knows. Sigh......... User12343 Clutched April 2, 2002 Share April 2, 2002 maybe what u installed can remain la. when next time go inspection, use those whiteboard black marker to color it black b4 presenting for inspection... Huggable Clutched April 2, 2002 Share April 2, 2002 I've wanted to install those blue lights also, but don't think it's wise to wire it to the main headlight beam. It'll be good to wire the blue lights to light up with the foglights, since turning on foglight is also "illegal"!
Lightspeed Clutched April 24, 2002 Share April 24, 2002 Had those blue washer lights installed for almost 10 months now and so far no problems ...you must be damn unlucky Anyway, what I did was to install a switch so that I can switch the blue lights on or off .. But so far I've passed thru several road blocks with the lights on without a problem ... Seeing that you got a letter and all...think I should switch them off for the time being? Hahaha....turn them on in JB from now on
Guyver 1st Gear April 24, 2002 Share April 24, 2002 As for me.... everything original... but what i would like for my car is the light that "Knight Rider" has in front... since my car is black color will look quite cool tho... i think.... then install a computer in my car with a special small form factor casing with motherboard & etc.... then i can fix a Creative Live sound card with those PC speakers in my car liao.... would be make a good ICE? Anyone has experience on that? In that way.. i can have MP3 songs.... or even playing AVI files in my car!! Anyway a 14" LCD flat panel is going for somewhere about $400.. which is much cheaper than those car type.... now the problem is where to put it in my car. ↡ Advertisement
