Powerpass aircon switch

anyone tried powerpass aircon compressor cutoff device? It's suppose to cut off the aircon compressor when accelerating hard.

==============

While accelerating hard, for me, I prefer to manually cut off the aircon until I'm satisfied then on the aircon again. To me fitting such device sometimes interfere with my driving, like it cut-in when I don't want it to and cut-out when I wanted it.

[crazy]

Furthermore certain car might not match the system being used and also affect driveability.

The manual s/w in most/all car for the air-con is more than sufficient for hard acceleration and serious driving where you do not want the air-con to take away precious power and lighten the engine load.

My opinion. [cool]

Sky, does the Fabia has a switch to turn off the A/C compressor but leaving the fan on? My car has a button just to turn off A/C but leave the fan on so it's like my "power" switch which I can hit to accelerate [;)]

Some cars may not have this so turning off the aircon fan maybe too troublesome [:/]

Ya, the air-con s/w only turn off the compressor. The fan switch is a seperate s/w. With aircon compressor off the fan can circulate cold air for a while.

Most car come with 2 switches nowaday, one for the fan or blower to circulate the air in the cabin and the other the air-con s/w to turn air-con on or off. Car that have both hot and cold air control have seperate switches.

Most jap and korean car are also like that. Only older model (10yrs +) car does not have seperate switches.

I called Sly today and he said he couldnt really give me a quote over the phone as he need to see my Fabia first. I got his address at Blk 113 but didnt got eventually as I was too tired to make a trip there.... some other time perhaps.

Hey guys,

What's the cost for Power pass + installation ?

The separate switch for A/C and fan is a good function as some cars (like mine) has a tendency to have evaporator failure due to moisture and mildew buildup. So I need to disengage the A/C and open up the recirculation to blow outside air to dry up the evap for the last 5mins of my drive home.

That's my way to avoid a $1.5k repair. [angelic]

Allowing too much outside air or foreign matter like leaves, dust and small particles to enter can also contribute to early evaporater failure. To keep the interior clean and clearing the floor mat regularly is also a good practice. The aircon picks up dust and particles from within the car during its operation.

The idae of the last part of disengaging the air-con is also a good idea, save fuel as well and if you need to blow dry maybe can introduce a little warm air from you car heater system by selecting warm air from you air conditioning system.

Debris and particles are one of the "killers" of evaps, so my car has an optional filter before the outside air enters the blower/cabin. This filter is a evap saver too IMHO.

Cabin cleaniness is really essential not only for the aircon but also the health of the driver and passengers [;)]

I can make a device that automatic cut off the A/C compressor At high speed /w manual overide switch.

It's a micro-propressor based circuit.. so the whole unit can be re-programmable
