Selespeed156 Neutral Newbie December 16, 2002 Share December 16, 2002 (edited) Hi, There is a US government website, that investigates complains fromthe public, about products do not meet up to their claimed specifications / standards. You would see the suit that has been filed against such products / company, if they have been investigated and found guilty. Hope this would help ppl decides whether to buy "that" stuff he/she has been pondering for a while........ Just key in the key-word or product name and it would lead you to the site(s). Try "motor up" for a start and read about it..... website is "http://www.ftc.gov/search" cheers. Selespeed156 Neutral Newbie December 17, 2002 Author Share December 17, 2002 Type in any products that you have came across, or have been tempted to buy and try. You should be able to get some info / law suit against the company if they were investigated and found guilty... Good Luck.
Selespeed156 Neutral Newbie December 17, 2002 Author Share December 17, 2002 I nearly bought one of those for my previous car. I trust that Mobil and Shell etc would have been able to make products good enough for F1 racing that they do not need these aftermarket products like motor up and slick 50..... Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 18, 2002 Share December 18, 2002 (edited) I did actually try Slick 50.............that was >10yrs ago, on my Beetle. No internet luxury then and fooled by their 'more slippery than wet ice' ad! No improvement in performance noted. Esky Neutral Newbie December 18, 2002 Share December 18, 2002 The FTC site seems to say that most of the fuel-saving gadgets don't work, or only give very minor improvements, which contradict with some results from actual users of these products. . . Selespeed156 Neutral Newbie December 18, 2002 Author Share December 18, 2002 Some of the "improvements" seems psycological, i.e. the user wants to believe that they work. Maybe there are real improvements (very little), but this site is to investigate the over-selling marketing tactics these companies used to sell their products. Cheers. Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 18, 2002 Share December 18, 2002 Most ppl who say these products are good are based on hearsay and not factual. If you see TV-Media, all claims are just testimonials.
Esky Neutral Newbie December 19, 2002 Share December 19, 2002 But some products like fuel magnets do work, yet they're classified as hoax by a lot of ppl... I'm using a Korean-made High Booster fuel magnet, and got abt 10-15% improvement in mileage.
Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 20, 2002 Share December 20, 2002 I don't claim that all doesn't work, just that they should be backed by controlled studies. 10-15% is a vast improvement, and it stand to reason how come no car manufacturers thought about it, given their vast resources for R&D. D2843 1st Gear December 20, 2002 Share December 20, 2002 Hi Esky, interested in the 10-15 % improvement on the Korean-made High Booster fuel magnet. where you bought it and $ paid, how about installation and can use for any car? cheers.
Esky Neutral Newbie December 20, 2002 Share December 20, 2002 Mine was bought from KL, RM180. Installation is easy, just clip onto fuel hose, and hold in place with 2 screws. You might wanna just get Cool's Apollos as it seem to be giving good results, from word-of-mouth of forummers here. Alternatively there's also the Super Fuelmax. . ↡ Advertisement
