Service Indicator

Does any of the VAG brothers here know how to reset the service indicator? Just did my servicing a few weeks back but I think they forgot to reset it. Now it's blinking whenever I start the car. I thought it can be done without the VAG tool, right?

Just cut and paste here for reading pleasure:

1. Press the right dial lever down and simultanously turn ignition key halfway till dial lights come on.

2. Service warning light will appear without flashing

3. turn left dial lever clockwise and service light will disappear

4. start car and let it running for about 2 seconds

5. switch engine off and remove key.

I wonder what dial is he saying?

I think should be the other way around. Right for resetting odometer and left for clock. I just reset mine yesterday, very easy.

Thanks very much to all for your inputs. I shall try that tomorrow morning.

But there is only one dial on my car (Toledo). Without pressing, turn left to adjust hour and right to adjust minutes. Press to reset trip meter. I think it should work the same.

Something clearer... from Briskoda [;)]

The service interval display should normally be reset by the Skoda dealer on completion of a service. However it is also possible to reset the service interval display with the reset knob of the instrument trip counter as follows:

* Switch off the ignition and press the reset knob on the trip counter below the speedometer and hold.

* Switch on the ignition and release the reset knob. The message service or service now appears in the display.

* Turn the knob for setting the clock to the right until the message is reset.

The manufacturer does not recommend resetting the service interval yourself as this may result in incorrect settings and thus in possible faults in the vehicle.

After resetting the service interval display on models fitted with LongLife Service, the service messages are displayed in the same way as on models not fitted with LongLife Service.

For this reason the manufacturer recommends having the service interval display reset in a Skoda Dealership. The service interval display is correctly reset by the Skoda Dealership using a diagnostic tester.
