Chevee5 Neutral Newbie June 19, 2005 Author Share June 19, 2005 Sorry to say that it is very risky. Saw one ugly incident at Senkang Mall. The driver in front of me did exactly what you have just mentioned. The barrier came down so fast that it crashed onto its bonnet and broke. The security guard came rushing to see what happened. They have thot about this oredi.
Cheekg99 Neutral Newbie June 19, 2005 Share June 19, 2005 why not tie up the barrier to the wall ?
Octopus 3rd Gear June 19, 2005 Share June 19, 2005 Has anyone experienced problem with the carpark ERP system when exiting? Entering is no problem but when exiting, the system is unable to deduct cash from the cash-card in the IU. Hence, the barrier cannot be lifted up. So far OK, no problem. Victor68 Turbocharged June 19, 2005 Share June 19, 2005 If u have no problem with LTA, it got nothing to do with you but that particular car park ERP reader problem. Car park ERP reader is only a fraction of the LTA sensor power thus no where to compare. However, it is a better version of the old hands free reader system. Well, if they can't read, press the intercom and asked to be release lor
Secondhand Neutral Newbie June 19, 2005 Share June 19, 2005 It's actually a flaw in the system... I've encountered a few times... And i noticed that it always occur when u ENTER the carpark. As u guys might know some carpark barrier takes time to close, I sotong sotong drive into carpark while the barrier is still on way down. The reader detects my cash card and barrier opens again... But when going out that time, the screen says "Invalid CashCard". I reverse and try again... Also same. Call the carpark person and they say same thing... Reverse and try again... Duh... As if 1st time didn't try... He ask me how long i park car... I said And I'd like to say this... NOT all system are flawed... Only MOST are flawed... Victor68 Turbocharged June 20, 2005 Share June 20, 2005 Dear 2nd-hand, the system u encountered is not a full ERP system. In a full ERP system, they don't read cash card but your IU. The barrier and the antenna reading your IU is independent. Your IU can be read even if the barrier is opened.
Secondhand Neutral Newbie June 20, 2005 Share June 20, 2005 Duh... It's a full erp system... trust me... No need to stick cashcard into slots no more... I guess u didn't see the part where i need to reverse and try again? no?
Cor66 Neutral Newbie June 20, 2005 Share June 20, 2005 I have no problem with the LTA's ERP system. The cash was deducted each time I went thru the gantry. It's only the carpark's exit that I've got problem. My Optra5's windscreen isn't tinted (it's original). I have a feeling that the camera is mounted low and the IU too flat (because of the windscreen). But how come entering is no problem? never have this problem before..... most erp car parks gantry don't require cash card in the iu on entering, only on exiting.. if your front windshield's solar film is too dark, you may have to cut a hole for the erp reader, like what one of my friend did when he found out he always got photographed at the erp gantries[laugh]

Pisces69 6th Gear June 20, 2005 Share June 20, 2005 If you cannot exit the car park with your cash card, just reverse and let the next car go first. Then follow closely behind that car when you exit, bumper to bumper, and Hey Presto! FREE PARKING! This is definately not advisable. If u damage the barrier arm, it's a couple of hundred $$$ to replace depanding on the type. Not so "free Parking" after all. Remenber there's a cctv recording the event, so you can't lie as to what happened.
Pisces69 6th Gear June 20, 2005 Share June 20, 2005 I always keep a distance from the car in front & drive slowly so as not to "confuse" the computer. Let it read clearly my IU & Cashcard if necessary. Never seem to have any problems with the system. I see some pple drive so fast to the barrier as though they can frighten the barrier to open faster for them. The opposite usually happens. The computer cannot read the IU clearly & it takes longer than usual to open. The system reads the IU & cashcard if it's inserted on entry & both IU & cashcard on exit unless if it's free parking. Then no need to insert cashcard at all. Maybe while u were toking to the cp person, the computer digested the info & opened the barrier?
Chevee5 Neutral Newbie September 10, 2005 Author Share September 10, 2005 Hi, I'm glad to inform you all that the problem has finally been solved. My colleague told me to move the car nearer to the camera instead of reversing back and forth. This may be because the camera sensor may not be sensitive enough. I had waited so long to try again and it worked!
