Congratz of getting your car. [:)]

I think there was another similar to this one. Lots of info there (one loonnngg checklist), maybe u want to search a bit?

Anyway, generally

1) Check exterior for defects

2) Check interior for defects/stains

3) Check electronics (all lights, etc.)

4) Check that all freebies u're entittled to are there

5) Make sure all the manuals (car as well as the CD player) are there

Buy a cash card (if u're a 1st time car owner) and some parking coupons before going to collect the car.

I think that's about it (a very brief summary of what I did anyway).

Hi [wave][wave]

Congrats to your new ride. I have collected mine last week oso. There is a list in the resource folder, which is general and apply to all cars.

My advise is check the

1. body for dents

2. rims for scratches

3. toolkits ( car jack, cross bar etc)

4. windows for cracks/chips

5. seats

6. internal panels for scratches

7. lights

8. MOST importantly...drive one round with the SE inside to listen for funny noises (go over some humps/strips if can). If have, tell him/her to write it down in a defect form or something like that so that it can be rectify when you go for the first servicing

hope the above helps. [;)]

Interior:

1. Master lock, individual lock, child lock

2. Window lock, power windows (at driver side and at individual side)

3. Electric mirrors

4. Headlight switch, signal switch, high beam, fog lamp (if applicable), hazard signal switch

5. Wiper switch (make sure each speed is correct), wiper spray

6. Make sure dashboard lights come on when the headlights are switched on.

7. Make sure information lights on the dashboard are lit at relavant times (eg. high beam symbol, parking brake symbol)

8. Horn, steering wheel adjusting lever

9. Boot and fuel tank cover lever

10. Seat adjuster

11. Mirrors

12. Aircon vents (make sure they can move freely)

13. Aircon (go through each fan speed, make sure the power is strong enough), defogger

14. Radio/CD player

15. Gear shift able to move freely.

16. If yours is an auto, make sure you have to step on the brake to shift out of Park, and the car can only start in N or P position.

17. Glovebox

18. Handbrake & check handbrake lights

19. Carpet (check if it is dirty or not)

20. check for leather folding or for cracks on leather seats

21. Speakers

22. Make sure the distance on the odometer is reasonable (should be less than 20km at the very most if you

Why not... Split the list into 2 or 3 checklists, get 2 to 3 friends and split the work up... Tick every item after they are checked... Will be done in no time... [sweatdrop]

Honestly, I couldn't bothered. I just check the 'grey-area' of the car eg. body/paint condition, rims, tool kit, headlight & horn (safety) and interior finishes. Everything else, like the engine, aircon, etc is covered under warrenty.

Turbocharged

If you are looking for a perfect car, chances are you will be disappointed even with the most expensive car.

Just feel it and if you like it, that is. With a perfect body, unless you don't park anywhere else other then your own garage, all you need a a careless fellow and you got a dent liaow! [laugh]
