Octopus the engine oil u said izzit a black 5 liter bottle?? coz went to top up petro; tpdau den the cashier told me tat itz use for disel vehicles so izzit safe for me to get tat?? btw wad car u driving?? kinda curious... sly.gif

Yap, that's the one.nod.gif The oil have SL and SJ rating, so can be used on petrol engine. Since its a diesel engine rating oil too, it contain more additive which can protect your engine and keeping it clean. Me driving a 1991 Corolla.

hmm read abt ur posting that u use Mobil Delvac MX 15W40, if i am not wrong that is for van and lorry running on diesal. u sure ok? i thinking of trying it as i heard some people in the forum is using it.

anyway i am driving am 8 yrs swift using this castrol GTX... any comments?shoulf i change?

cost me $28 at least the rating is 15-40 not so rough.

I'm sure Delvac MX 15W40 can be used on petrol engine with no problem. In fact, an oil expert here (Genie47)scholar.gif recommended to me this oil, and I'm using it for the second oil change already. Fuel consumption after using this oil (previously using Havoline 20W50) improved slightly.

I understand Castrol GTX is also quite good. If I'm not mistaken, its also a HDEO, like the Delvac MX.

You can check the API ratings on the bottle. SJ, SL and SM means its suitable for petrol engine. CH, CI, CI-4, etc means its sutiable for diesel engines. If both petrol ratings and diesel ratings appears on the bottle, it should likely be a HDEO - Heavy Duty Engine Oil.

oh..the red colour one rite?? yea my's a manual too..use to pump esso red colour one...but realise it didn't gif my car much power...so now switch to mobil ron 95...hm..most likely yurs is an unleaded car liaoz..as for my itz runs on leaded petrol but now all pertol all unleaded liaoz so need to inject a kind of chemical to convert the unleaded petrol into leaded one... [hur]

Yup, the red one.nod.gif Previous used to pump Mobil 5000 too, but due to SPC having better offer so I switched. Between Mobil & SPC, I've a slight preference towards Mobil.tongue.gif

I see......didn't know engine which need leaded petrol have to inject chemical.....so what kind of chemical is that and where did you buy it? How much to use in each petrol top-up?

hi i am driving carb car also. i will advise to use normal engine oil will do. no need for syn oil. i use sae40 from esso. the normal engine oil. tried castrol also. both are not bad. when u change engine oil u can put stp engine oil treatment for you car too.

as for lost of power, maybe its time to service your carb already. i just did my overhaul. the seal and gasket if its leaking can cause u lost of power. and will drink more petrol. maybe its time to go back to your mechanic and ask him to do servicing for carb.

if you need help in finding mechanic just let me know. i know of one that deals with carb.

btw just pump 92 will do for your car. cause it used to be leaded rite? its better for the engine

for old leaded engine. u can just get the lead replacement addictive for it. it sells in 500ml. But once u started to use it and u stop, your engine will lose more power and u have to go through a few full tanks before your engine returns to normal.
