Karu 6th Gear October 3, 2005 Share October 3, 2005 Hi Jarjar, Care to share what kind of deal you got from the 'PI at the upper levels of AML' ? Which PI? Thx!! ↡ Advertisement
Crazyjarjar Neutral Newbie October 3, 2005 Share October 3, 2005 Hi Karu, I signed up with Shun Heng at $69K for basic full works (leather, rims, sensor, alarm, etc) at a 4-bid guaranteed COE and delivery. You planning to get one too? jarjar
Belnsebas Neutral Newbie October 3, 2005 Share October 3, 2005 Hi Jar2 Yeah $67k offered by Pinnacle is for COE bidding @ $12k. Most ppl say COE will likely drop to $12+ to $13k, so by the 3rd bid, I will decide if I want to top up . Anyway I'm ok to wait cos its a 1-to-1 exchange for my old matrix & the new airwave. So what is the package u commited over d wkend? I was offered $2k for d following accessories other than d standard ones:- 1. Alarm (standard) 2. Reverse sensor (standard) 3. MP3 player (standard) 4. Leather seats (half leather) 5. 14" sports rims 6. Rear speakers 7. Customized floormats 8. 3 pc window film (for front) My hubby say not worth it, what do u guys think? cheers ..belinda.. Crazyjarjar Neutral Newbie October 3, 2005 Share October 3, 2005 Hi Belinda, The chance of COE prices going down is likely to be high, but how far it will go, no one will really know. We can all make intelligent guesses, but no one can really tell for sure, unless there is a "Car Dealers Association for COE (CDAC)" HA. Is there one? So you would need to top up when the COE goes above $12K? If COE hovers around $13K - $14K, then your total price will still be over $70K in the end. My package was like what I told Karu - $69K (1) Full leather (2) 15" Sports Rims (3) MP3 Player (4) Reverse Sensor (5) Alarm He wanted to give me solar film in exchange for half leather but I decided against it. I can add the solar film myself if I find the need in future (cost $200-$300) but I doubt I will change the half-leather to leather (if the half leather gives way some years down the road). A rough estimate to the cost of the items you would be paying for $2K. (1) half leather (600 - 800 although the SE will tell you at least 900 or more) (2) 14" Sports Rims (300 - 400) (3) Rear Speakers (100 - 200 not very sure) (4) Customised Floor mats ( More headache for you. HA. [sweatdrop][sweatdrop] jarjar
Karu 6th Gear October 3, 2005 Share October 3, 2005 Jarjar, Yup. Like many, waiting for the COE to slide further before committing. Airwave is one of my shortlisted rides. Sounds like you've got quite a decent deal with the add-ons. Not many dealers give such package below 70K. What's the cap for the guaranteed 4 bid coe?
Crazyjarjar Neutral Newbie October 3, 2005 Share October 3, 2005 The COE Rebate is given at $11,500. I doubt the COE will drop to that level in the next few bids but we can never be sure. I am not counting on getting any rebates. I just want the car Wait if you can. I believe the selling price of Airwave will drop further. jarjar
Karu 6th Gear October 3, 2005 Share October 3, 2005 Understand that there's a penalty if I dun take 70% loan. That adds to the cost as well. Any idea what's the amt?
Gene2 Neutral Newbie October 3, 2005 Share October 3, 2005 My dad just booked a Honda Airwave. Have to confirm that we get the COE before we finalise the other things like colour and accessories. Bought from his friend at $67,988, COE bidding at $13K. Car comes with Skyroof, reverse sensors, mp3 player and alarm system. The car was very powerful even with 5 full-sized adults. Dad was completely satisfied. His first auto-car! He had been against driving an auto car citing they feel really underpowered or less responsive. But the Honda Airwave was totally different. Think the VTEC technology really played a huge role. The Honda Civic (pre-facelift with VTEC) didn't feel as powerful i remembered.
Airwave05 Neutral Newbie October 3, 2005 Share October 3, 2005 Hi Jarjar Can't agree more. It is defintely a great relief after concluding on the Purchase. The follow thru is less taxing. U sure got a deal FYI, I got a $280 refund for not taking up the 14" Sport Rim package; cause I dun like their selection + they offer No brand & Indonesian made rims. In general, PIs' cost is around : 4pc x 14" RIM w/o tyres = $280 4pc x 15" RIM w/o tyres = $380 4pc x 16" Rim w/o tyres = $480 As std 1.5G package c/w 14" steel rim and tyres, besides 15" sport rim, hopefully they r giving u reasonable gd 195/55/R15 tyres as well. Gd thing tat u did not take up the 3 pcs Solar Film. My Cool n Lite 80% IR reject . After experiencing V-Kool for 9 over years on 3 different cars, I am convinced that nothing ( maybe HuperOptik) come close. Even my spouse commented on the heat . Pinacle did offer me $2K for the same accessories, n they claim tat they use Jackspeed leather. Eventheless $2K is too . My SE told me tat PI's Full Leather (5 seats) is at most $700. Salute for having such 2.5 month PATIENCE. U will sure enjoy yr Chiffon Green. Cheers!
Bumbhead Neutral Newbie October 3, 2005 Share October 3, 2005 Hi Karu, Like u, I am in no hurry to commit. Believe in general that the COE will be lower with better freebies thrown in later on as competition heats up. Lately seen quite a number of Airwave on the roads... Just a thought, maybe some sort of group buy could be formed to get a better bargain from the PI's? Also, guys, maybe a check list of the equipment and stuff in the Airwave, like what is stock and what is freebies could be listed so as not to be robert for the PI's! Can act as a check list as well when collecting rides.... Like for example, is the three point leveling adjustment of headlight an option? or present in the basic ride? Thanks for sharing info Belinda and congrats jarjar for securing yr ride.... Like most, I am also switching my ride if I get the Airwave....
Karu 6th Gear October 4, 2005 Share October 4, 2005 Bumhead, Group buy sounds like a idea! Hoping that the coe will go down by at least 3K before I go shopping. Dunno when will that be... Let's keep an eye open...
Crazyjarjar Neutral Newbie October 4, 2005 Share October 4, 2005 Hi Airwave, Great relief? I am not too sure about that for now. This is the first time I am buying a car from a PI and there is apprehension as to whether the PI I traded with is reliable or not. But having made the decision, I can only wait patiently. If I had gone for other colours like black (which I can accept too), I would likely get the car much earlier. Anyway, I am sure I will enjoy my Chiffon Green when it comes. HL was offering a refund of $400 if 14" sport rims were not included in the package. I hope my PI gives me reasonable tyres too. Got to check with the SE. I have never used any of those V-Kool stuff, so perhaps I am already so used to the heat. HA. jarjar
Crazyjarjar Neutral Newbie October 4, 2005 Share October 4, 2005 Hi Bumbhead, You are right about making a check list of the equipment and stuff and the freebies. It is best to make sure that freebies are included in the sales contract. There are cases of SEs who deliberately exclude certain things from the contract, hoping that you will blurly sign the contract without checking. There was a hearsay case that one SE deliberately wrote the car purchased simply as "Airwave" and not "Airwave Skyroof". Not sure if the case is true and what happened to the case. I scanned through the terms and conditions (the small print) at the back of the contract. All terms and conditions are biased towards the PI! The customers do not seem to be protected in anyway. So to be on the safe side, I would suggest getting the SE to write all that has been agreed upon on the front of the contract. I believe it would help if there is any dispute subsequently. I have seen a few Airwaves, and it seems that the 3-point leveling adjustment of the headlight seems to be standard. But I heard of one of owners here not having it. Perhaps this only comes with the G version and not the L version. Anyone can confirm? Meanwhile, the "agonising" wait continues... jarjar
Crazyjarjar Neutral Newbie October 4, 2005 Share October 4, 2005 Understand that there's a penalty if I dun take 70% loan. That adds to the cost as well. Any idea what's the amt? I am not too sure of the penalty. We have to take a loan anyway, unless you are planning to pay by cash . I do hear of some people paying cash for the cars they buy. Different PIs also seem to have different minimum loan requirements. Guess you would have to check with the SEs. jarjar
Belnsebas Neutral Newbie October 4, 2005 Share October 4, 2005 Hi Jar2 Wow your deal looks good.. at least u dun have to worry too much abt the COE while I pray every night for it to drop . True.. like what u estimated, maybe its not worthwhile to pay $2k for the extra stuff & then not knowing what kind of quality to expect. Maybe its wiser to DIY with d money & then decorate my car with 'Hello Kitty' using d spare.. hmm.. Btw whats your estimated OMV? cheers ..belinda.. Belnsebas Neutral Newbie October 4, 2005 Share October 4, 2005 Wow.. Karu.. u sound rich !! Here i am.. worrying whether can get 90% loan, there u are.. worrying how much penalty if dun take 70% loan.. so . cheers ..belinda..
Karu 6th Gear October 4, 2005 Share October 4, 2005 Belinda, No lah...Still need to take some loan. Juz dat, after trading in my current ride, need to take ~ 60% loan & dun wanna pay too much interest for long period. If you look at the absolute amt, it's quite substantial. Furthermore, nowadays we dun keep car for more than 5yrs. So 5-6 year loan should be enough. Hence, quite bothered about the penalty if it's substantial. Dun wanna pay anymore extra!! Crazyjarjar Neutral Newbie October 4, 2005 Share October 4, 2005 Hi Belinda, I think this is the best deal at this point of time but the price may go down further in the coming months. Unless you can keep on waiting, else you would have to make a decision at one point. I have been eyeing the car for a while and so decided to go for it. You can continue to pray for the COE to keep dropping. It is ok with me as if it goes below $11.5K, I would get a rebate. The OMV is unknown at this point of time as the car is not in stock. It would be at least 2.5 months before I would know the OMV. But I estimate it will be between $19K - $21K. jarjar ↡ Advertisement
