Hi everyone, I have a question. When we talk about 1000km, 5000km & 10000km maintenance after you get a new car, do we refer to when the milleage meter hit 1000km, 5000km & 10000km, then we need to send the car for maintenance ? I am a bit confused because I sent in my new car after 990km milleage in Apr for maintenance at C&C. There was a sticker at the windscreen that says your next maintenance of the car shall be at 5990km or Jul 07 whichever is earlier. So, does the above means after 1000km milleage, after another 5000km milleage and after another 10000km milleage we need to send the car for maintenance ???

Just went for my 5000km servicing on this rainy morning. The PIE and ECP's were both slow moving cruised to VW service centre at Leng Kee, yes your Skoda Superbs are now serviced at VW. Arrive at 930am and the servicing was completed by 1015am! There were two Superbs being serviced this morning I was the first one. Just to mention that driving even on a rainy day, the Superb inspires confidence in all conditions! Loving my ride.

Hi guys, Champion Motor's free servicing only include 1000km, 10000km and 20000km... Juz went for my first servicing.. They used mineral oil - Castrol Helix (dunno wat grade though, anyone?? ) Hence, is it advisable to do a 5000km servicing to change the mineral oil?? If so, do we need to change oil filter too?? I also heard that the K&N filter will help in improving FC.. Is it really true?? If so, I might consider changing it too when doing the next servicing.. (Anyone got lobang or recommendation on where to buy?? ) Thanks guys!!

I got my Thai mechanic to do the oil change for me. These are some of our experiences. Oil filter is very difficult to remove even for my experienced Thai mechanic. If you can find a tool that can be placed over the oil filter like a cap, that would do fine. It took me to help from the top ( he was underneath). There are wires that get in the way of the oil filter tool, so be very careful. Copper washer: Yes, SA is right to have them replaced. I examined my used CU washer and found it crushed, not on the entire surface, but about half way. The only way to reuse the washer is to turn it over, but the mating surface will be reduced to half the original surface. Get new washers for every oil change. While my Thai mechanic was draining the oil, I went to a lorry spare part shop in Kranji Loop and managed to buy the same type of CU washer for a few cents. I bought 2 pieces. Some Specifications: The oil drain nut is 14mm in diameter CU washer internal hole is 14mm and the external diameter is 20mm, and about 1.5mm thick. The oil filter internal diameter is not 18mm but 17.5mm. I used a calipher to measure it. I used Phillips Conoco 10W-40 semi synthetic oil (Red Colour bottle) costing $30/-. I will monitor my FC to see if it improves with the thinner oil. Regards
