Hi all, as above. Recently looking at 2-3 yo cars. Noticed a number of them with such issues. Is it a sign of serious accident previously, cos usually less serious ones can repair to original alignment / condition. Appreciate ur constructive inputs.

As most brothers here probably know, I am driving an old car. Recently, there was some "prok...prok..." noise whenever my car moves over uneven road. I sent the car to a "highly-acclaimed" (by MCFers) shop in Yew Tee Industrial Park and had it checked. The shop owner assigned one mechanic to me and the mechanic sat in my car while I drove him around to illustrate the problem. He half-jacked up the car and then layed under my car to look at it. After he came out from underneath my car, he claimed that the brushes/rubber pads on the lower arm was worn and the arms needed to be changed, I was charged $465 for 2 lower arms inclusive of alignment. The noise was slightly reduced. In my earlier post, some MCFers told me that I could have just changed the brushes/pad cheaply without having to change the TWO WHOLE ARMS. I then went overseas for 2 months and when I came back, the noise became more pronounced. Today, I send the car back to him again. This time, he sent another MORE EXPERIENCED mechanic to test drive with me and he claimed that the power steering rack needs to be changed. He wanted to charge me $380. BUT, CAS (Pandan Loop) just changed my power steering rack on March 2007 and I have not been driving the car from Sept to Nov. I am not sure if the noise is really from the power steering rack (as he claimed). What is the implication if it is really due to a power steering rack issue? I have already paid him $465 recently without having the problem solved. Can I still trust him the second time? Advice, anyone?
