  2. Ex-Top Gear and The Grand Tour host Richard Hammond is in a new sponsored video for Ford's Ranger Raptor again. This time round, he tries to impress his daughters by being a cool dad. Published on the DriveTribe YouTube channel, Hammond proclaims that the 210bhp 2.0-litre, twin-turbocharged diesel Ranger Raptor is a “brilliant family car” and proceeds to show us what he means by sending his two teenage daughters the local shops for some shopping. At the shopping center, we can then see him getting bored while waiting for his daughters to return. After quite some time spent trying to entertain himself, his daughters return from the shops with their loots. Probably sick of talking to himself, he then proceeds to entertain himself by bringing the Raptor through a "shortcut" on the way home. Of course, the daughters have no idea the shortcut is actually an off road track and we can see in the video later that they are probably not going to be happy with all the bouncing about in the truck.
  3. With The Grand Tour’s Richard Hammond turning 50 soon, he has earned the rights to celebrate his mid-life crisis. Thanks to Ford, Hammond reckons he has found the solution to make his life whole. Yup, he thinks the latest Ford Ranger Raptor would do him good and the British journalist then proceeds to show us how capable the pick up truck is. Interestingly, Drive Tribe openly admitted that this video was sponsored by Ford, leaving us slightly confused on the video's take away...

  5. Read the headline and was scratching head thinking since when we have such a unit/vocation Tactical Ranger and how on earth this chap got caught with a S$20 bribe... [confused] What exactly on earth is a tactical ranger in NParks? From the way the report says, it seems like he goes around catching folks for littering I guess. "Tactical" means he hides behind trees or rocks to ambush the litter bugs? Anyway for a lousy amount of S$20, it is really not worth it to flush his life down the drain in exchange. Must have been a desperate move... [shakehead] From CNA: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1180508/1/.html Ex-tactical ranger accused of accepting S$20 bribe Posted: 02 February 2012 1112 hrs SINGAPORE: A former tactical ranger at the National Parks Board faces a maximum fine of S$100,000 or a jail term of up to five years, or both, for allegedly getting S$20 as a bribe. Fifty-nine-year-old Lee Hak Peng was charged in court Thursday under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He is accused of obtaining a bribe of S$20 from Nurhidayu Mansor on March 12, 2010 at the East Coast Park. In exchange for the money, Lee was asked not to issue Nurhidayu a summon for littering. Lee has asked for a trial and his passport will be impounded by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau. He will face the court next week. - CNA/cc
  6. CNA Ranger jailed 10 weeks for maid abuse By Shaffiq Alkhatib | Posted: 13 July 2011 1536 hrs SINGAPORE: A ranger at Sentosa caned his maid on the back of her legs last October simply because she had forgotten to lock a window. About a week later, when 30-year-old Hamzah Abdullah noticed that the strap of his son's sandal was broken as the maid was helping the child put it on, he kicked her in the forehead before punching her once in the left eye. The burly ranger also stepped on Ms Solikhatun Khasanah's back - and only stopped assaulting her when his wife shouted at him to stop. Deputy Public Prosecutor Norman Yew said Ms Solikhatun suffered internal bleeding on her forehead and near her left eye following the incident. Hamzah, who pleaded guilty to two counts of maid abuse Wednesday, was jailed for 10 weeks. He could have been jailed up to three years and fined a maximum of S$7,500 for each charge. District Judge Toh Yung Cheong also ordered him to pay S$1,500 compensation to the 29-year-old Indonesian maid. Should he fail to do so, Hamzah, who was unrepresented, will have to spend an additional two weeks behind bars. - CNA/cc
