Thinking of Changing Car... Should I or Should I not?

The main reason being we've got a baby coming. I was thinking of S3 initially but the maintanance would be horendous if the DSG fail. So should I change to a Caldina???

Its got all the ticks for the 2nd car criteria.

1) 4 cyclinder = cheaper registration and should have better fuel consumption

2) 2L = same as above

3) AWD

4) Cheap to maintain

5) 5 Door + wagon

6) Looks ok at least not like Stagea so boxy

7) Turbo. At least still got a bit of go to it.

Are you in SG or OZ? Did a search on Caldina on SGCarmart, and it's not sold here.

If you're in OZ, buy the S3, cars are so much cheaper there, it's a no brainer.

I suppose the buying pattern in Aussie is different from Singapore.

More on the needs and right size car over there.

In Singapore it's more about buying at the right COE time, and buying for Atas factor.

Nt tried e caldina since none that I knw of available here....but sounds like u hv done careful homework on it. E pros or ticks of e car are definitely strong factors to hv me liking it already....esp e A15k part [:p]:D

Any cons u can think of to deter u from getting it? Over here, COE and ride's dep can be very discouraging....u are lucky yr side got plenty of road-space and much much much cheaper cars......

Safe ride....esp kangaroos at nite....dey eat cars... [:p][laugh]

Cheers

Should be fine. It uses the venerable 3SGTE which means quick and lots of aftermarket bits. Unless things have changed in the last few years, the huge JDM grey import market should mean a more or less hassle free, and very price competitve experience if you ever need to get parts.

Precisely. Thats the other reason thats been stopping be buying any Euro unless I can afford to enjoy it. For the time being, I'm pretty happy with the Japs.

Hahaha... heart and mind will not agree most of the time. Just like when I got this car. I never liked the 33 but 34 suddenly became out of reach after buying the house. FD is 1 of my fave too and my heart will say yes to that but I didnt buy it due to practicality.

For the time being. I think the Caldina will be perfect for me/family. I thinking of posting my car for sale liao... lol.
