I’m interested too Thanks Hi Darren/2015 Forester/Rainman/Chucky/Lim/Titanic/others, Sorry for the delayed update on the cusco touring A adjustable dampers with 1 year old pink spring ... only managed to installed about 4 weeks ago and wanted to let the dampers settle down as well as to fine tune the eventual setting and learn more before a hopefully more accurate and informative share experience. To start off, current setup of my forester xt with stiffer suspension setup than FNA includes: - front strut and arb from cusco, - rear Beatrush strut and arb from wrx, - body dampers from local workshop, - magic collars, - 235/50/18 primacy st 3 at 240/240 when hot, - sti flexible subframe etc. as well as about 50kg difference from stock due to ICE installation and SP even after less removed spare wheels that may somewhat affect the performance of pink spring with cusco touring A dampers. In a nutshell, it is not the elusive holy grail to compliance ride which is not unexpected since conti ride of say glc-250 or xc-40 is more than just spring and dampers but the hope was that after spending about 1.7k with installation, alignment, kaki's price together with e2con in-cabin remote controller, it gets closer which it did with some following comments and caveats: - initial days of installation when not fine tuned and before the dampers settled down was worse than pink springs alone - final setting of front/rear 16/17 clicks vs claimed stock dampers setting of 20/20 which I find not the case ... same for colleague on rsr spring with cusco dampers with his at 16/16 but more on comparative test ride on this one - at 16/17 which is as comfortable as stock, the jitters when one rest their head on headrest from established self-check with stock dampers are resolved, cusco dampers simply has more damping even at final settings ... however, you will find feel abruptness when road surface or especially road bumps exceed this final settings - there is a small window of having these final settings On rsr spring with cusco dampers at 16/16, the ride was surprising very stable ... more so than pink which is still more unsettled albeit better than with stock dampers but the abruptness is more pronounced. At this price is definitely less than 1.5 time Cusco Touring A $1.3k..... Personally, I do not like lowering spring, thus, will recommend that you go for the Cusco. Stamford is just at level one, you can go there for alignment. Their jack is above the floor level, so lowered cars cant do alignment there. But shouldn't be an issue for forester. As such, stability and resolution of unsettling feel or floatiness or jitters etc. is most with rsr, then pink and stock springs However, stiffer spring brings about "abruptness" and hard bumps when you encounter rough road surfaces especially with stock dampers that is softer than cusco touring A and not adjustable. Stock springs with cusco dampers even adjustable will not get you the stability or rid the floatiness like pink and rsr but it will also not create the abruptness due to stiffer springs. Guess only you will know if cusco touring A with stock springs is good enough... some bros will mock on spring and dampers system for my mentioned stability and proceed with coilover which are also adjustable but have no doubt that they are even stiffer. For me going for compliant ride and comfort, pink springs with cusco touring A is preferred and I do want lower ride than with stock spring but do contact bros with the setup to try ... words can do so much and your butt and brain will help you decide finally ... hence I thick thick skin and seek bros' to allow me to test drive various before taking the plunge. Richard PS: If you so decide to proceed with cusco damper A, please be patient during fine tuning ... my journey was such that it takes a while for chosen setting to settle of say 4 weeks and even after each adjustable of say 10-20km and there is a small window that you will know when it best suits you which is 17/17 for me now ... lol ! Thus dampers will leak faster than with stock springs. Also, spring rate has to complement damping force if not the ride will be very harsh, if not dangerous. It's is not easy. Many generic coilovers, springs and dampers are not able to achieve this. For alignment, I'm suggesting Stamford because someone is asking somewhere near BKS. I've once drove from northlink to amk after changing coilover as Stamford cant take my car. When Kenny jacked my car up, he asked "how did you even drive here?" It is dangerous to drive long distance if your alignment is way out after changing suspension. Kenny is good, he got his personal touch in his service. But I don't think he is the must-go-to for alignment. I've went to another workshop recently and they resolved the left pulling effect in the forester at a cost lower than Kenny. Hi Strato, Pink springs are designed by STI for our forester and believe will be ok ... at least for my case, 35k km and absolutely no issue while kakis already toward 100k km or typical 5 years ride which even with stock springs can warranty change for anal driver. Kenny is indeed not the only one can do alignment but since he had seen many foresters, I do go to him ... and also others in the case of after my cusco touring A dampers. Agree that Kenny is kind of good man, but not a must, as long as you can find an alternative option.... the reason i recommended him is cos quite a lot of bros who did their alignment in other workshop, end up complaint no good or wat and solved only by Kenny. Can you PM which other workshop you go? Mine also abit problem about the same issue like u.... left pulling effect and steering abit not align after tyres rotation last week.... thinking to go back to Kenny but abit far fm town.... if got other good one, i want to give a try too. Stratovarius Turbocharged March 16, 2019 Share March 16, 2019 (edited) Hi Strato, Pink springs are designed by STI for our forester and believe will be ok ... at least for my case, 35k km and absolutely no issue while kakis already toward 100k km or typical 5 years ride which even with stock springs can warranty change for anal driver. Kenny is indeed not the only one can do alignment but since he had seen many foresters, I do go to him ... and also others in the case of after my cusco touring A dampers. Cheers, Richard Technically, spring will not wear even after 10 years. Normally its the damper that needs to change. Lowering springs do wear dampers faster. That is why sti and most of the offical marque tuners only do 15mm lower to avoid wearing of the stock dampers faster. Imho, these springs brings no improvement to both cornering stability and aesthetics. Those lower springs like 35mm are better as those are significantly stiffer but will wear stock dampers faster. Agree that Kenny is kind of good man, but not a must, as long as you can find an alternative option.... the reason i recommended him is cos quite a lot of bros who did their alignment in other workshop, end up complaint no good or wat and solved only by Kenny. Can you PM which other workshop you go? Mine also abit problem about the same issue like u.... left pulling effect and steering abit not align after tyres rotation last week.... thinking to go back to Kenny but abit far fm town.... if got other good one, i want to give a try too. Haha..... let's meet other day..... Ya. Personally i dont mind stiff suspensions until i sat on my own car as a passenger. Lol. Then i understand why ppl dont like me to ferry them. Also, stiff suspensions are less efficient in absorbing humps. One time, i went over a hump too fast, front tyres lifted awhile and landed back on the road screeching but i managed to control the traction. But they are super shiok on corners.
