Yes, Volvo is now officially Chinese. Geely, or the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Company Limited in full, has basically made good on its offer to purchase Volvo from Ford. The initial deal announced in late March was finally concluded very recently. Geely had initially agreed to purchase Volvo from Ford at a reasonable sum of US$1.8billion, of which Geely has already settled the initial US$200million deposit in March, now US$1.3billion and the remaining balance by the end of this year.

Those crazy people at Mitsuoka are at it again. This time they've turned their attention on making their traditional 1930s styled roadster, the Himiko HT (Hard Top) to something even more traditional. They did this by junking the hardtop for a more traditional cloth soft top and calling it the Himiko Classic Edition.
We know that the original MX5 was designed to replicate the excitement you get from a traditional British soft top like the Lotus Elan or a MGB Roadster but with Japanese reliab
New Delhi is a metropolis which is mainly famous for being the capital of India and its ridiculously bad traffic. So much so that we have now heard from the New York Times that the traffic police there have resorted to using facebook to let people post traffic offenders so that action can be taken against these offenders.
If you've ever watched on YouTube or gone to New Delhi for a first hand look at the traffic scenario there you would know that traffic laws are blatantly disregarded. Ther
In case any of you have driven into Malaysia on or after the 1st of August 2010 and intend on filling up your fuel tank with Malaysian petrol you would have found out that there is a new directive stating that beginning 1st August 2010, all non-Malaysian registered vehicles will not be able to pump petrol with RON95 grade within Malaysia. Enforcement officers are supposedly on patrol around border towns, especially in Johore Bahru and at Bukit Kayu Hitam at the Thai-Malaysia border.

Somehow Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull seems to start in pole position but fail to capitalize on this. At the Hungarian Formula 1 Grand Prix last Sunday, his team mate, Mark Webber was instead the victor. With Lewis Hamilton of McLaren crashing out of the race, it looks like the championship chase is still an open book too.
The race basically got on to a usual 'follow the leader' kind of opening lap but there was an incident that shook things up a little in lap 17. The Petronas Mercedes of Ni
The new 2011 Mercedes Benz S63 AMG made its online debut a week after the presentation of the facelifted CL63 AMG luxury coupe. The two cars share the same AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo, which replaces the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 unit.
In the 2011 S63 AMG, the hand-built 5.5-liter V8 which combines direct petrol injection with bi-turbocharging and a start/stop system, pushes out 544HP at 5,500 rpm and 800Nm of peak torque between 2,000 and 5,500rpm. Power is transferred to the rear whee
Dual-clutch transmissions have become increasingly popular in small cars and have even appeared in high-performance machines like the Porsche 911 and Bugatti Veyron. Now, Mitsubishi Fuso has become the first commercial truck maker to offer one of these fancy gearboxes in a hauler.
The new six-speed M038S6 "Duonic transmission" features wet clutches and incorporates the ability to creep in traffic for smoother operation. Although Duonic-equipped trucks will probably be driven mostly in full
I recently posted about Hamann going ballistic on the looks of the F10 BMW 5 series. Basically Hamann had gone through great lengths in trying to make that car look very aggressive. It had also tried its best, and failed, with the 5series Grand Turismo too (although it wasn't at fault as the car itself looks like a illegitimate child of a 7series, a X6 and with the DNA from a Rover SD1). The latest Hamann Motorsport release is not a BMW, but a Mercedes. The SLS to be precise.
This time the
The N. technology Porsche Panamera S has won a Superstars race at the Mugello circuit in Italy on debut.
Driven by Fabrizio Giovanardi, the N.Technology Panamera posted a time of 28:55.886, which was 2.083 seconds faster than the runner up. Unfortunately, during the second race, Giovanardi was involved in an accident that affected the car's steering and knocked it out of contention. According to team principal Mauro Sipsz, "We are of course happy and very satisfied with the results: pole pos
The recall nightmare for Toyota Motor Corp continues. This time, the Japanese automaker said it is recalling around 373,000 of its 2000-2004MY Toyota Avalons, and approximately 39,000 of its 2003-2007MY Lexus LX 470s in the U.S. for problems concerning the steering parts.
Toyota said in a statement that the Avalon sedan's problem involves the steering interlock system, which due to improper casting, may develop a crack that can expand, making it difficult to unlock the steering system when s
MTM has decided to preview their tweaks on the Audi RS5. This piece of kit is for those that think that the standard RS5, which is actually an A5 or an S5 with a 4.2liter V8, slightly different rims and a lot more noise from its exhausts, isn't enough to impress their drinking buddies. That V8 in the RS5 is derived from the old B7 Audi RS4 that we all love so much. Well, I do anyway.
Not much is done basically, the MTM RS5 isn't a radical tweak as the 450bhp thereabouts 4.2 liter V8 makes..
Remember the statement I wrote in this previous article about the BMW 5 series M-Sport accessories? I stated that there are those that dream of owning a M5 but can afford a 525, 530 or that sort so they add on the M-Sport bodykits so that their car looks more like an M5 instead of looking like the bread and butter base models. This are people working within their means, and so is this chap who's now selling his Audi Saga 1.3A on a Malaysian buy-sell site.
This chap is really working within t
German tuning firm Abt Sportsline has developed a new package for the Audi A1. The car features an aerodynamics kit, updated exhaust, revised suspension, new wheels, and performance enhancement.
External upgrades on the car are available in either brushed aluminum, grass green or lavender. Each color corresponds to Abt's three new dec
Ferrari has a 1-2 victory at the German Formula 1 Grand Prix at Hockenheim and Ferrari should not be proud about it. The reason was that Felipe Massa, after fighting tooth and nail for P1 against team mate Fernando Alonso and pole sitter Seb Vettel in the early stages of the race had to 'give way' to Alonso, letting Alonso win for the sake of the points in the driver's championship. I have just watched Scuderia Ferrari commit what was supposedly banned (team orders) in F1 by the most cunning way
In case any of you readers happen to be going to, or are already in Indonesia you could head over to the 18th Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS 2010) which was officially opened by Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. DR. Budiono on the 24th of July 2010. The event will be held at the Jakarta International Expo at Kemayoran, Jakarta until the 1st of August 2010.

With first deliveries of the all-new Volvo S60 just right around the corner, it's high time for the German aftermarket gurus at Heico Sportiv to ready their performance and aerodynamic enhancements for the much-promising Swedish sedan.
The tuning firm released the first drawings and illustrations of their package for the new S60. Exterior modifications include lip spoilers on both corners of the front bumper, side skirts, a discreet boot lid spoiler and a rear apron housing a diffuser. The
Less than a month after taking the wraps off the regular CL-Class facelift models, Mercedes-Benz went ahead and revealed the flagship versions of its luxury coupe, the CL63 and CL65 AMG models. Both cars will have their world premiere at the Paris Motor Show.
On the outside, there are some subtle styling tweaks on both AMG models such as the redesigned front bumper with LED daytime running lights, a more pronounced "V"-shaped grille, larger headlamps and a reworked rear bumper with newly sty
The first official images of the all new Audi A7 Sportback are making the internet rounds today ahead of the sport saloon's debut on Monday. These photos prove that the production car has stayed remarkably true to the 2009 Detroit Show concept's appearance.
In a similar fashion, the styling of the interior is almost identical to the concept, except for the colors and the decorative trim. The just-under 5-meters long A7 Sportback will be strictly for four passengers.
Mechanically, the A5
For some, a W221 Mercedes Benz S-Class is the epitome of luxurious transport and it is used mainly by the captains of the industry as a means to comfortably ferry them from one power meeting to another. Of course at the other end of the same playing field are pop stars, rap artists, premier league footballers, movie stars, the Russian mafia, Yakuzas that can actually afford such a car but think that it looks too sedate for them.
For them you bring in people like Japanese tuning firm Wald so
Michael Schumacher has confirmed reports he is still committed to his formula one return with Mercedes.
After a three year retirement, the seven time world champion's performances this year have disappointed some, but team official Norbert Haug insists the German marque is not reconsidering its 2011 lineup.
"I am still motivated to achieve my goals in the three years," Schumacher, 41, told German reporters on Wednesday. "I'm not entirely happy with the results, but I didn't expect to dri
This is Volkswagen's facelifted Caddy compact van that enters the 2011 model year with six new TDI diesel and TSI petrol engines.
The exterior facelift includes a completely redesigned front end that draws inspiration from the latest Volkswagen models and re-trimmed tail lamps at the back. Inside, there's a new steering wheel design, a revised instrument cluster and higher-grade materials.
For the first time, the second row of seats can be completely removed on all models. This allows f
Say goodbye to the inline 5 pots turbo unit in the existing Ford Focus ST. According to Ford's product development boss, Derrick Kuzak, the new ST will make use of the company's new EcoBoost engine.
"Our commitment is to deliver an exciting performance model of the new Focus on a global basis and using a version of our advanced new Ford EcoBoost petrol direct-injection turbo engine," said Kuzak back in March. "We're not ready to reveal more details yet, but we recognize how important this mo
