Jaywalking uncle and his +1 jam brakes to avoid getting hit by taxi

Two pedestrians jaywalk across a junction in Bangkit Road and almost lost their lives.

In this short clip, two men jog across a pedestrian crossing on a red light.

As they almost reached the other end of the crossing, a yellow taxi quickly zooms past them. The vehicle nearly hits the uncle at the front, who notices the car and slows down for a second.

The camcar follows the taxi as it slows down further up the road, with the driver claiming that the taxi uncle had the fright of his life after encountering the two jaywalkers.

Although the taxi had the right of way, the driver should have practiced defensive driving and slow down when approaching the junction. Just because the light is red for pedestrians does not mean that there won't be any jaywalkers around.

However, there is no excuse for jaywalkers to think they own the road and that the vehicles will slow down for them.

Jaywalking is an offense in Singapore and it merits a fine of $50 for first-time offenders.

Personally, I think the most entertaining thing in this video is the adorable way that the uncle slows down when he notices the taxi as he jaywalks/jayruns. The manner in which he crosses the road is mildly feminine as well, which raises some eyebrows.

TBH, I don't feel like there's a need for these two men to jaywalk across the junction. Why so 'kanchiong'? If they were any slower, they would have been caught in a terrible accident and the driver might lose his license.

Why is it not a bus that is going slightly slower?

One bus, two birds.

  • Pandas would be extinct without human intervention

What is it about pandas that makes them so endearing to us? Is it their distinctive black-and-white markings? Is it how they're so clumsy that you could accuse them of being drunk? Could it be because both adults and cubs look so cuddly? Whatever the reasons, pandas are popular. So popular than when countries accept pandas on loan from China that this is referred to as 'panda diplomacy'. But we all know that pandas are also endangered and need our help to propagate themselves. Apart fr

Your next action film recommendation: Battle Los Angeles

I’ve always held a keen interest in the armies of the world, the wars that raged, and the weapons used. Therefore, I usually appreciate a movie (preferably an action film) if there’s an army element and lots and lots of bullets involved. Well, Battle Los Angeles (2011) doesn’t disappoint. With explosive battles and intense drama, you find yourself rooting for a group of resilient Marines tasked with defending Los Angeles from an alien invasion force. And yes, it’s on Netflix (for now), and

Tennis: Beautiful game that doesn't know how to count

Wimbledon just concluded yesterday (congrats Sinner!), and it's a reminder of how much I enjoy tennis as a sport. I used to play it some (wasn't particularly good), and still tangentially follow it nowadays (the Roland Garros final this year between Alcaraz and Sinner is an all-time classic).  There's something intrinsically mesmerising about the sport, I think even for spectators who have never picked up a racquet. At first glance, it may seem like just two people (or four, but doubles is

Japan is weird. I love it (Part 9)

You know when you go to a mamak shop or Good Price and see those brightly coloured plastic toy 'instruments' that you would buy for kids to bang away on? Well, someone (Japanese, of course) had the idea to basically turn that into an actual musical instrument.  I present you: The Otamatone.  The Otamatone originated in Japan in 1998, thanks to the creative minds at CUBE Works and Maywa Denki. This playful music instrument boasts a quirky, note-inspired design that has captured the imag
