Emkay 1st Gear August 10, 2005 Share August 10, 2005 Hi gurus, My 3.5 years lancer started to jerk while I break, like the engine going off like that, with RPM dropped to around 600 or less. Is there anything that I should check or change in my next servicing? Thanks ↡ Advertisement

Fortress Clutched August 11, 2005 Share August 11, 2005 (edited) Is your steering vibrating hard under braking. It started as a light left right movement and deteriorated to vibrating steering. And when you are having feedback on light braking from your brake padel. If that the case, it mainly the disc rotor is warped. 2 ways to rectify, one is to skim the disc pair (provided you have not done this before) alternatively, changed the disc rotor. Emkay 1st Gear August 11, 2005 Author Share August 11, 2005 Not so much of steering vibration leh .. more of tachometer went down to 500-600rpm and engine like going to stall like that..not really hard braking also. Emkay

Teddi Neutral Newbie August 11, 2005 Share August 11, 2005 State your ODO. If >60K, change your Fuel filter.

Seaweed 1st Gear August 12, 2005 Share August 12, 2005 (edited) if it is not intermittent...get it check...could be the engine can't compensate when alternator or air con compressor kicks in....thus rpm drop...dirty air sensor also possible...faulty spark plug(maybe only 3 is working).... Fortress Clutched August 12, 2005 Share August 12, 2005 Opps....thought you were talking about the brakes. It is a fuel issue. The possible scenarios are, you fuel pump is dying, the fuel filter is choked or the bleeder line is stucked. There are 3 nozzle in the car injections, acceleration, cruising and bleeder for idling. Wonder is your car is still under warranty, cleaning is sufficient.
Ahdi Neutral Newbie August 12, 2005 Share August 12, 2005 fuel filter, brake pad, clutch problem ( unlikely)
Elfenstar 3rd Gear August 19, 2005 Share August 19, 2005 (edited) agreed, it would be one of three things, dieing fuel pump, clogged fuel filter or more likely (considering the mileage) dirty airflow meter. Edit: ah damn... it could be a faulty throttle positioning sensor as well... basically fuel issue. Edited August 19, 2005 by Elfenstar
Gothviruz Neutral Newbie August 19, 2005 Share August 19, 2005 I dunno if my car's problem is the same or not. I'm driving an auto Nissan Sunny. My engine will sometimes stall when i slow down. Worse still when i'm negotiating a bend, i slowed down, engine will stall and my steering wheel will be locked..so have to quickly push gear to neutral then can restart. sigh. Could it be the same type of problem faced?
Elfenstar 3rd Gear August 20, 2005 Share August 20, 2005 (edited) Does the car rev hunt before it stalls??? Did you do anything or go to a workshop etc before it started that? Edited August 20, 2005 by Elfenstar
Emkay 1st Gear August 20, 2005 Author Share August 20, 2005 if same cause as mine, probably due to too 'gentle driving'. I had this problem 2-3 weeks ago (but the car never did stall, only RPM dropped to ard 200) and it sort of goes away after i redlined it for a few minutes .. however, genenrally, the car still doesn't feel smooth. I still don't know what caused it but about 2 months ago, I tried one of those STP fuel line system cleaning fluid and that was the first time I use such product, don't know if that's the cause of it .. but I am staying away from those product from now on. Went to Riverview this morning to change the fuel-filter and the boss Vincent recommended throttel body assembly cleaning, the car is now much quieter and smoother. The service, attitude and workmanship I would say is May be you want to check your fuel supply line? Emkay
Linus Clutched August 20, 2005 Share August 20, 2005 bro, i encountered the same thing when i stop/after braking to a complete stop. when idling, the car : 1) engine vibrates, like wanna chiong forward, tho i am stepping on the brake pedal hard. 2) morning start car will die off. never experience tt b4 as mine is an auto car. 3) RPM drops till 400-600, damn unstable. 4) moving off/driving off ok. only got this prob when idling or stopping. the prob, dirty throttle body. coz i use K&N air filter and the mechanic said as it is oil based and not paper filter as per stock, the filtering effect not as good and more air and more dirt will pass thru. anyway, learned how to clean throttle body from bro ah-gad. so now... prob solved. juz need to standby carb cleaner and some clothe for cleaning throttle body. the dirt can be real black man.... dirty. thanks for sharing... Gothviruz Neutral Newbie August 20, 2005 Share August 20, 2005 Hi bro, i went to Tan Chong today and they did some engine and parts tuning, which they claim will rectify the problem. Cost me $65, no parts replacement tho. I haven't fully tested the car yet, only drove home from Tan Chong. So far ok. Btw, i had to wait more than 4 hrs!! ..damn.. ↡ Advertisement
