Turbonetics 2nd Gear February 4, 2006 Share February 4, 2006 (edited) Bro mind to tell me extractor, CAI n open pod is which part ah? Cos i duno the exact location on the car itself. I'm still a newbie.. If i maintain my low end then wat abt my mid n high end? will it suffer? will my FC increase? extractor is the metal pipe that is link from ur engine head down to ur exhaust... CAI and open pod are actually related....CAI is a name of set up for ur air filter... and open pod is the term name for filter...another type is drop in filter which is stock for most cars... if u can post ur car, might be easier to show u.... Thx=) mushroom typeis another type of open pod which is name given for HKS filter cos it looks like mushroom shape....most commn ones are like those from K&N... knwon as cone shape filter....HKS ones are expensive man...but i think it shd be good... maybe u got the HKS one.... Turbonetics 2nd Gear February 4, 2006 Share February 4, 2006 bro, every car set up is diff.... normally for the mushroom filter, there is no box surrounding it.... stock drop-in filter definitely have box surround it.... some of the cone shape filter also have customise box surrrounding it.... maybe u show pic and i try to tell u.... Turbonetics 2nd Gear February 4, 2006 Share February 4, 2006 i think shd be do the intake 1st then exhaust mah.... actually i think no diff also lah....
Gary84 1st Gear February 4, 2006 Share February 4, 2006 bro i mean he shuld do do up his extractor before doing piping those stuffs. Open pod and CAI comes in later mah. But of cos 1st thing is to "kui toh" the exhaust la.
Turbonetics 2nd Gear February 4, 2006 Share February 4, 2006 (edited) the one in blue circle is actually ur extractor inside...very hot one... so u can see that the metal plate have this logo saying "do not touch"...open the plate and inside is ur extractor... and the circle in red i guess is ur filter(iam not driving lancer).... if it is stock one, inside shd be a drop-filter...not open pod... but from the set up,it does looks like a CAI....cos the mouth of the CAI is at the front of the bonnet(in green circle)...is that a stock one??? Turbonetics 2nd Gear February 4, 2006 Share February 4, 2006 i know that's what u meant... but the correct way is to do intake 1st then follow by exhaust mods... but to me,i guess not much diff also... exhaust shd give more gains than intake mods.... Extractor abt $180 unless urs nid to custom-make one then mebbe $250 liddat. no offence but i think getting a $180 extractor,i had rather stick to the stock one.... a normal range extractor shd cost ard $400...stainless steel one is better... if really want good gains,go for those branded ones...like DC sports...etc... but they aren't cheap.... Gary84 1st Gear February 4, 2006 Share February 4, 2006 well those are prices quoted by Man Exhaust. And i tink shuld be reasonable enuff la. since it's quite reputable aneway.
Katou Neutral Newbie February 4, 2006 Share February 4, 2006 The red is a stock air box + a drop in K&N filter there.. The Green is indeed a stock air intake. I normally c the CAI which if i'm correct is open box instead of the stock which is a close box. from there i suppose the mushroom filter(round type) is place inside there.. am i rite? Turbonetics 2nd Gear February 5, 2006 Share February 5, 2006 if u are talking about mushroom type, normally ppl dun use any box anymore.... it will just reveal the mushroom filter when u pop up the bonnet...
Turbonetics 2nd Gear February 5, 2006 Share February 5, 2006 bro,i nvr been to Man before...but i heard thay are good... iam not saying the price is expensive... but what i meant was paying less than $200 for an extractor, might not give u noticeable gain or might not even have any gain....the price for the extractor is for ppl whose stock extractor is leak and ppl who wana change back to something close to stock one... so i guess the power gain wun be there...just my thought... but i do believe a good extractor can give good gain in power... the design of the extractor is also very impt...
