Brownboy Neutral Newbie September 24, 2005 Author Share September 24, 2005 I think the $2k discount is offered by all salespersons. went down to the showroom yesterday. pricelist showed legacy 2.0R to be at $93k, then salesgirl straightaway said "minus off another $2k for all models in this list". that makes the 2.0R $91k. had a drive. - very responsive, linear acceleration for a NA car - easily reached 140km/h and still felt there's still some power untapped left - handling is superb (don't feel bouncy) - ride is firm but still acceptable (for rear passengers) - build quality looks good overall although some interior equipment still feels plasticky - driver seating position is geared for sporty drive ie. low position - center armrest set too far away, so left hand can get tired after a while am seriously considering this ride, and waiting for price to drop a little more. looking at around $86-88k range in the coming months before making any decision. Subarufan Neutral Newbie September 25, 2005 Share September 25, 2005 No kidding bro. My SE called me. His latest offer to me is 79.5K. I am very tempting to sign it. Anyone think I should not take up, seeing the COE will be dropping further? Or shall I wait for the new 1.8L Civic to reach our shore? Cheers
Srnathan Neutral Newbie September 25, 2005 Share September 25, 2005 Mr Fan, What kind of loan are you taking If you taking big loan (>50k, >7 years) , the SE earn quite a bit hence more accomodating to your requests I went to KM today. Take small loan. SE don't even want to hiu me. Who is your SE? We buy together at one shot. Maybe can get better deal I'm getting Civic. In the process of bargaining

Accordvtec 1st Gear September 25, 2005 Share September 25, 2005 why not settle for the JDM Accord which is around the same price?
Brownboy Neutral Newbie September 25, 2005 Author Share September 25, 2005 (edited) Good car indeed the JDM Accord, if you compare with the Thai Accord. Went to see the Thai Accord too last Sat. Hints of luxury when compared to Legacy but also looks cheap (plastics and wood), and colour coordination for interior is bad (black on top half, beige leather on bottom half, plus a bit of wood). Subarufan Neutral Newbie September 26, 2005 Share September 26, 2005 I also went to KM to test the Accord 2.0L. Still find the Legacy more quite and better interior quality, especially the sound system is excellent! My SE is Keith. He quoted me 7 years loan, and yes >50K. He deducted 1K off from 81.5K because of loyalty discount and 1K from his personal discount. May be you are right that he is earning good money to give me 1K off personally. You mean you are booking the new Civic without even looking at the real car? I also tot of waiting for the new Civic to come. I wish to try the 1.8L. You also want to buy Legacy? We go together to get further discount!
Firstcall Clutched September 26, 2005 Share September 26, 2005 (edited) yep, i agree with u the Legacy Interior feels better, more driver oriented, better quality and built and far superior sound systems. The Legacy also has trip computer that shows FC in real time while Accord sadly does not. After siting inside the Accord a number of times, the novelty feeling begin to fade and the white dials does not seemed appeal fresh to me anymore. (hmm that is fast considering I dont even own it). As for Legacy, though the layout is conventional, I still feel impressed by the interior. But the new facelift might address these weakness with Honda style of brighter EL Blue/white dials and similarly located trip computer display near the central aircon duct as the Legacy. But for exterior look, JDM Accord win handsdown. Edited September 26, 2005 by Firstcall

The R got the most BHP now man . Because got 168bhp , the rest at of the 2l is around 150bhp only . The R is 5AT transmission is it ?????
Firstcall Clutched September 26, 2005 Share September 26, 2005 Actually, I had a little doubt about the 2.0R performance at the back of my mind. While I was excited to see 165bhp powerhouse and almost believe it will be a performer but then again the 2.0i with 138bhp manages only below standard approx 13.6sec century sprint due to heavy body and 4WD power lost. how much faster can additional 27hp push? Probably bring it closer other jap cars. It would be ideal if it can push below 10sec but I had some doubt, so I went to check: - The 2.0R 4spd auto would only do a 11.4sec century sprint- which can hardly catch up any 2WD 2.0l jap car (Accord, Mazda 6, Galant etc) on the road.... - The 5 Spd manual would achieve a 9.5 sec sprint. but is not available in SG. http://www.subaru.co.uk/IMGGB/WWW/Subaru_c...16?Opendocument So if those looking for above par straightline performance, better not pin hope too high. But if u like the built quality, handling and conti-like feel, its a good go.
Srnathan Neutral Newbie September 27, 2005 Share September 27, 2005 Sorry i read your tread wrongly. I'm not getting the legacy I'm getting the present model for civic, the 1.6 VTi-L Personally am a supporter of tail end models Good value for money cos I think they have identified rectified most of the problems from earlier release However, if you change your mind and think of gettin gthe accord, we can go to Kah motors together Cheers

Brownboy Neutral Newbie September 27, 2005 Author Share September 27, 2005 Legacy 2.0R: Price is $91k, OMV $23k Accord 2.0 Euro/JDM: Price is $90k, OMV $30k If you keep both cars for 10 yrs, then the scrap value difference is quite nominal, and depreciation becomes quite equal too. But if you keep the car for less than 10 yrs, say 7-8, then the Accord JDM will give you a better deal! ↡ Advertisement
