Duckduck Turbocharged October 10, 2005 Share October 10, 2005 (edited) hehe. well i believe COEs will stabilize back up to abt $15k. This was mentioned also in the papers by the hyundai motors rep. The gahmen didnt expect the COE to crash so fast when they created more COEs coz of the large amt of cars scrapped this year... so once the bargain hunters have bought enuff cars, the gahmen will take action and reduce the COEs again, causing the COE prices to go up again.. some time later lor.. Right now PARF still the same, the long term goal of reducing car prices in total has not come into action. THis shld b rolled out slowly over many years lah. Africatwin Neutral Newbie October 12, 2005 Share October 12, 2005 I dun think so even it go back to 15k it wun last for long. Now everyone is changing cars for those who change to new cars with 10yrs long they will be tie to their new cars for at least 6yrs depending of how much they down. For 7yrs long at least 4yrs to break even. So there will definitely a period where most of the owners unable to change to a brand new car again. So COE will still go down further after some time. Those who got their cars at high coe is now stuck with their cars for a even longer period.
Pisces69 6th Gear October 12, 2005 Share October 12, 2005 u know wat i think?Gahmen should scrap this stupid COE scheme long long ago!!! Why would any1 pay for a license to own a car? Doesn't make sense!!!! Especially when they want us to pay rd tax, erp, parking....etc. ============================ Gharmen has clearly started to move away from high cost of car ownership & moving to high cost of car usage. This transition will cause turmoil in the 2nd hand car market which we have started to experience already. Many pple r going to b caught unawares unless they do their costing very carefully as although it is cheaper to buy cars now, the running costs will escalate to very high levels. Then we will have another problem. Many cars registered but lower car usage. This means insufficent parking space which will give them an excuse to raise the c/park charges to very high levels. Then motorists will b trapped. Expensive to use & expensive not to use. Gharmen will then b laughing all the way to the bank.
