Clio Neutral Newbie October 9, 2005 Share October 9, 2005 Hi, i wish to find out from some oil gurus regarding Torco oil. I have been using most oil available in the market from Castrol RS, Elf Excellium, Shell Helix Ultra, Mobil 1 and i find that Torco is the best of all for performance and FC. Not sure about wear rate as i donno how to check. Question is...is there anyone who used torco oil before find that there is something better? torco is real expensive where i got it at a workshop, any idea where i can get cheaper? Currently using Mobil 1 5W30 from carrefour...i dont think it works well for my case. engine noise is more significant, FC remains and engine is running rougher b4 i changed my Shell helix ultra. IMO, local SHU is better than the imported Mobil 1. next servicing due soon...wish to change back to torco as it had given me very good feel before. but due to pricing, i am wondering if RP is as good as torco for 5W30? or other oil like amsoil, motul, idemitsu, or castrol SLX? the torco i had before was $27 per L. yah, i am looking at 30wt oil only. thanks for the info. ↡ Advertisement

Genie47 1st Gear October 10, 2005 Share October 10, 2005 Don't get fooled into using racing oil. I think in terms of TBN, they are the weakest. Regular street oil is able to give you a longer drain interval. As for 30wt oil, I suggest you check out a 10W30 first.
Carpuzzler Neutral Newbie October 10, 2005 Share October 10, 2005 Hi Genie 47, Can i side track a bit? can i use Conoco All Season Diamond 5W30 for 10000km and 20000km engine oil change? I have read that they are not "synthetic" but i can use these engine oil just as any other normal synthetic oil? Or i would have to drain them off after using it for 5000km? thanks. Trex101 3rd Gear October 10, 2005 Share October 10, 2005 If i'm not wrong SR-1 use only group IV base stock while its SR-5 use group IV/V. The heavy moly content should give it the preformance gain you looking for.
Genie47 1st Gear October 10, 2005 Share October 10, 2005 Yes you can. It may not be real synthetic but Group III is very good stuff. Just be glad you paid not so synthetic prices but rather realistic prices for highly refined hydrocracked dino oil.
Megalord Neutral Newbie October 10, 2005 Share October 10, 2005 (edited) I have not used tarco before, but if performance is top piority, have you tried redline and motul 300V? I was quoted for Motul 300V higher than what your torco was offered, maybe because i didn't sound sexy enough. But 300V not supposed to go long oci!
