Africatwin Neutral Newbie March 18, 2006 Share March 18, 2006 Fong Kim sell strut bar too? Thought they only do operation for cars? Anyone tried ultra racing? Saw from delphi it's only selling for 130 for front and back strut. BTW thanks for your info. ↡ Advertisement

Itarc Neutral Newbie March 24, 2006 Share March 24, 2006 Hi, I was earnest reading up on all the topics of Lancer, and even though im having mixed feelings about its engine, I really like its looks and price. So i think im going to go for it. So now the decisions boils down to whether i should get the sports edition or not. My preference is definitely a sporty look, but i read somewhere its more money worthy to buy the standard lancer, and use the difference in price to upgrade the car. And because of the 'sports' word, the insurance for the sport edition is higher as well. is that true?
Vesfreq Neutral Newbie March 24, 2006 Share March 24, 2006 The lancer (manual/ auto) and sports lancer specs are exactly the same. If you have time, should go to the showroom have a look. The sports lancer is slightly longer than the regular lancer. Sports lancer comes with different head rest, like sports car. Of course, got spoiler, metal pedals, metallic dashboard (i think). Fog lights too. Sports rim. The main difference is really in the aesthetics. I didn't go for the sports lancer cos' the price diff is about 4k, something (when I booked). The 4k can save for petrol and maintenance. Its "jian ren jian zhi". The manual lancer has pretty good FC too. can check the mcf chart on FC. Its about 14.3 km/l. If you want to upgrade looks, can always do later. :) PS: I already got mine (coe cleared in the recent round) and delivery in a couple of weeks time. Pal (driving a kia) was like complaining about his ride having some problems, after 2 mths of driving.
Itarc Neutral Newbie March 25, 2006 Share March 25, 2006 Hi Vesfreq, Thanks for the input. Well you are right about the 4k difference. Its after all just a cosmetic difference, and can easily solved by mods later. You did mention before that you regretted not buying the sports edition, and Jacfm mention a difference in car chasis...dunno true or not. So i was wondering if there is really a significant difference in the cars body. But anyway im going down to the showroom today, and get all the info from the horse's mouth. And yes we are only young once, and i'm slowly aging out of that spectrum, so now its the time chiong. Will post the details of my findings here asap. Jacfm Neutral Newbie March 25, 2006 Share March 25, 2006 Hi, Itarc, don't know if you can see this before going down. Take a look at the front of the car, It is definitely different from the normal version.
Jacfm Neutral Newbie March 25, 2006 Share March 25, 2006 Just for your info, the price difference doesn't include the leather seats, sports rims, and keyless entry system and reverse sensors. Buyer must add about $1600 to get those. Thus the difference between sports version and normal lancer is about $2400.
Vesfreq Neutral Newbie March 25, 2006 Share March 25, 2006 (edited) No prob. u r rite, I think I did say I was tempted by the sports ed. It was after some advice from my pal and parents that I saw the basic lancer as a better buy, imo. After all, 4k u save can spend on good tyres and engine oil. There is some difference in the chasis. u have to see the basic ver side by side with the sports. The difference in car length is quite obvious, only when u c the two side by side. I was talking with this same pal. He owns a kia and regretting not spending more on a better ride. 10 years or even 5 yrs to drive a car is a long time. Its good to look around and read the reviews. A colleague was saying that he had a bad experience with his old lancer (3rd gen). I replied, "The number of lancers speaks for the general consumer reception." PS: Forgot to add that the sports lancer comes with a better sony radio. can't remember the specs. Heard that it supports a LCD display too. I think I also misquoted the 4k price diff. u gotta confirm it again. Its somewhere in the 2-3k region. Do grill the SE for more info. happy hunting too. Retrox85 Neutral Newbie March 26, 2006 Share March 26, 2006 (edited) now that someone has mentioned it, a quick check with mitsubishi's website and i am surprised that the lancer sports is shorter than the normal lancer. Bro Vesfreq says that sports is longer. Brouchers have no mention bout the lancer sports. so who is right? I have always tot the 2 lancers should be the same in dimensions minus the bodykit and stuff Edited March 26, 2006 by Retrox85
