Sweeney 4th Gear November 21, 2005 Share November 21, 2005 Tinted windows are better than those using solar film. Films can get scratched and some may even oxidize after a while Hmm.. what I am afraid of is that the properties of the tinted window may not be similar to the film such as v-kool in terms of both uv-cutdown and IR (heat) rejection. Any info on that bro?
Sweeney 4th Gear November 21, 2005 Share November 21, 2005 Hmm... yeah, know what you mean... lemme see once I collected my car. I have vkool on my current ride and may be able to compare results. Stay tuned!
Fiat124sport Neutral Newbie November 21, 2005 Share November 21, 2005 My SE told me that it prevent/cut down UV rays from entering the cabin....don't know got kenna smoke by him or not Don't worry, confirm never kenna smoke by him! Why leh? Because my 'Transitions' lenses refuse to go dark when I'm in the car 'Transitions' lenses go dark because of the UV rays.

Any info on that bro? Not sure about the properties though, but I can confirm it cuts down UV rays for sure! Because my 'Transitions' lenses refuse to work when I have all my windows up in the daytime Heat rejection wise, I got no info on that. My car is black, its a heat magnet.......what heat rejection????
Contax 1st Gear November 21, 2005 Share November 21, 2005 Now that you mention , I'm also wearing one 'transition' lenses and it did not turn dark during bright noon day. However , I believe the cabin will still be hot/warm if you park under the sun but those with v-kool or similiar will be better.
Sweeney 4th Gear November 22, 2005 Share November 22, 2005 I suppose then that the tinted windows of the Fiats cut down the UV but not the IR. Overboost, any info from your end?

Sweeney 4th Gear November 22, 2005 Share November 22, 2005 Still using RON95. OK FC is around 11.9 to 12.7 depending on your style. On highway, it will be much better. Jackson, Which brand of petrol you using? Anyone has feedback for Shell 95?
Jackson Neutral Newbie November 22, 2005 Share November 22, 2005 First top up is Mobil 95, Subsequent one r all Shell95. Well it does not matter at all as long as 95. If it is going to be empty and hv no choice, just fill it up and go.

Rickster 5th Gear November 22, 2005 Share November 22, 2005 THANK YOU THANK YOU! Yup! Just committed meself to more years of serfdom to my Fiat IDEA! 2nd test drive today confirmed my for this italian babe! Took the longest test-drive ever. Up and down the Kaki Bukit 'highway' and back down to Paya Lebar airbase. Played with the duologic all the way. Along the way, turned on the lights, fiddled all the switches, aircon, practised rapid acceleration, engine-brake on downslope, U-turns, roudabouts, deliberately onto roads with granite chips (easy to find these on Paya Lebar ) and deliberately not-upshift to feel how the engine sounds when dragged etc. Verdict- passed with flying colours! Noise insulation was good, acceleration acceptable (1.1tons with 1.4L engine), driving on the 195/60/15s excellent- good grip and stable (dry conditions today). Aircon super-cold. Engine braking without using left foot need to get use to! Went back, took a deep breath, sat down and work out all the sums and figures and signed 'thousands' of forms to claim (part) ownership of my Italian Mama-mia! Waaa... cannot resist... I've been absorbed into the Italian Mafia! Yummy... now to settle down to wait! Sweeney I'm waiting for my day too Congratz.
Jackson Neutral Newbie November 22, 2005 Share November 22, 2005 Fiat124sport, U seem to travel often to M'sia. HOw is U FC then? I believe that the important thing here is the mode use - DE , D , Manual. Btw how is the manual mode use - for me, I don't use to it becos I used to Auto. On the highway, I try using manual to change from 5 ,6 and back when I need more power. I still do not understand why Manual consume less petrol as compare to Auto. Can U explain? My FC is like crap, right foot very heavy, rims also very heavy(15")+ grippy tyres= very chialat FC. Averaging about 12 point something km/l. The manual mode's good when you want total control of the car, especially useful when going down Genting for example, you can use engine brake by putting it in the manual mode and selecting the lower gears. The 'manual' mode in the Punto is not really a manual The gears are 'virtual'. So driving your Punto in the manual mode doesn't consume less petrol than in auto mode. Sweeney 4th Gear November 23, 2005 Share November 23, 2005 No worries lah bro... most important is that it is within our means.... no point in starving to feed what is essentially a machine to serve us, not the other way around. So have you decided? Or still 'feeling the vibes'? ↡ Advertisement
