Gen2 Neutral Newbie June 5, 2006 Share June 5, 2006 read and understand that i'll need to velcro the polishing pads to this machine, wat exactly does this mean? is it to attach velcro on the machine plate so that the pads can stay in place? do i need to put velcro on the pad as well ? The machine and the polishing pads already come with the velcro hook and loop system, you simply buy the machine and the polishing pads and you can start using it right away without any modification. if i'm getting JW products, will Black & Decker WP600 be sufficient for me? my intention is to maintain shine.. nothing major to repair.. jus the usual light swirl marks... If you are using the B&D machine for JW products than there will not be any problem but if you are thinking of removing defects, than the Bosch machine will be a better choice. ↡ Advertisement

I find that it's not powerful enough for me especially when I have my father-in laws car (full of swirls and water marks) to do next. PM me for details if interested. Fasthonda Neutral Newbie June 17, 2006 Share June 17, 2006 i'm just curious but do the number indicate what to use at what stage? for example, #5 n #7 it's similiar but till now i still don't know what's their diff... anyone can enlighten me? btw, anyone knows where to get the DCP#1 n DCP#2? i search at autobacs but can't find. Rontheman Neutral Newbie June 17, 2006 Share June 17, 2006 #5 and #7 are glazes and there are subtle differences between them. #5 would be more suitable for areas of high humidity like Singapore. DCP #1 and #2 quite difficult to find, not sure whether Hypercoat bringing in anymore or not. For normal folks, you do not really need a glaze. If you like Meguairs product, get something like Color-X for cleaning, polishing and top up with NXT wax.
Fasthonda Neutral Newbie June 17, 2006 Share June 17, 2006 ok cool... cos' i've always been waxing my car without realising that i've missed out the polish part till now... haha... so that's why hunting high and low for a good polish. actually it was Hassan from hypercoat that recommended me the DCP#1 and DCP#2 that's why asking some feedback abt the DCP. but i only managed to find #5 and #7 at autobacs today and don't know what to get so didn't bought any. got to say that nxt really is good but quite ex. Bmwcar Neutral Newbie June 17, 2006 Share June 17, 2006 Hi ! Gen2. After reading all about Bosch GEX270AE. May I know if I am looking for a simple portable polisher just to remove the Sealant and Wax. Do you recommend Bosch GEX270AE or other? So far, my car don't have swirl marks. All I need is to maintain the paint work with regular Sealant and Wax :)
Gen2 Neutral Newbie June 17, 2006 Share June 17, 2006 Hi Bmwcar, I think Gex270AE is a good machine for regular maintenance, good for light polishing and applying sealant or wax.
Bmwcar Neutral Newbie June 18, 2006 Share June 18, 2006 Hi ! Gen2. Thanks for your replied :) I read from other car forum in the USA. They recommend Porter Cable 7424. Is this PC 7424 very expensive? Available in Singapore? What is the difference between Gex270AE and PC 7424? Sorry to ask so many questions :( Thanks in advance.
Gen2 Neutral Newbie June 18, 2006 Share June 18, 2006 Based on what you have mentioned, I believed the Bosch machine will be the right tool for you. PC works on a 110V power supply, so you will need a transformer everytime you use it and the vibration from the machine is not really nice to work with. If you need something more powerful I recommand you to get the Rupes DA machine instead, more user friendly.
Snowball Neutral Newbie June 21, 2006 Share June 21, 2006 The GEX 270AE do u need to make any modifications like stick the velcro on the base so that the pads can be attached to the machine. I went to see the machine and the base was a black rough surface.

Gen2 Neutral Newbie June 21, 2006 Share June 21, 2006 Personally using Gex270AE,so so only,my valco pad melted actually That's why the Bosch machine is not meant for those more serious defect removal . ↡ Advertisement
