Overhaul Engine

morning guys... car noob here and i am in urgent need for help and advice here

i have a kia picanto, and last night while heading driving back home, my car lost power, heard some metal knocking sounds from my engine and the engine went dead.

just to add, before all that happened, the temperature light appeared in my dashboard

i make it good practice to check my radiator water and engine oil level everyday.

but after i left the engine to cool itself, the radiator water is still there, but my engine oil is showing empty on my dipstick.

checked to see if there is any leakage below and in the engine, nothing there.

bought engine oil, top up, but now the engine wont start at all, instead i am hearing a loud screeching sound whenever i try to crank.

HELP!!!!

i owned picanto b4, it does not have a temperature gauge and only a temperature light showing if your car overheats. You shouldn't have drove it when the temperature light shown. High change is you overheated the engine, wrap the block, piston over expanded and in contact with the cylinder wall thus piston seized. The damaged engine also could be eating the the engine oil as well. With low oil your main and rod bearing high chance also gone. Probably find and replace with a junkyard engine or full overhaul, depends on which way is more economical.

ur description like indicating the engine oil being burnt off till empty?

exhaust tip have traces of wet black oily stuff ?

any leak trace of EO from the drain tray/plug?

I thot normal driving if oil too low will show the engine oil indicating light, u do not seen it ?

ur last attempt sound like the piston ceased ?

there wasn't any engine oil indicating light at all.... and since i checked the engine oil level earlier in the day... all seems normal...

if an overhaul is required... damn.. i wonder how much will it be...

if an overhaul is inevitable and much required... any price gauge?

i am open to a junkyard visit... any ones to recommend?

probably it leaks when engine is running, due to pressure inside crankcase. If you go underneath the car should be able to spot, Probably at the crank seal or the transmission seal. As for junkyard, woodlands industrial has a lot you will like to ask around for prices. Engine full overhaul in the range at at least 2k. u decide which is more economical.

I suspect you hit something undercarriage on the way to work. It's happen to me before in Tuas. My oil pan hit some rock & crack. Lucky for me the crack is not big & I manage to travel to my workshop in time to check & repair..
