your lorry have very good torque.. what doe you need to improve. Mebbe your headunit will improve, your horns and your headlamps as well. I expect ur lorry is diesel powered. dun think you hv Engine Control Unit (ECU).

ECU is to control most functions of the car. eg your braking system by sensing the speed of ur car, create dynamic braking to reduce the stopping distance, by creating differential in fuel injection and air intake via trottle to economize fuel efficiency as well as data logging of any fault registereed by car sensors.

Hi Azman79.

 

I also driving a carb 89 corona cd (AT171) & did a diy grounging which cost me less than $10.

 

I first looked at the engine bay & determined I am able to ground the engine block, alternator, distributor, firewall & horn & front of engine bay near the radiator.

 

I just got some heavy duty electrical copper wire, connectors & small cable ties.

 

Total cost abt 10 bucks.

 

Time taken abt >1 hr at my MSCP.

 

Still got balance stuff for another grounding so my cost actually abt 5 bucks.

 

Now for the $64,000.00 question. Does it work?

 

IMHO : It does improve the smoothness of the engine during acceleration & idling a little. The radio/CD & lights & horn seem better too.

 

I think it does help especially on older cars with a worn/corroded grounding wire as the electricy flows more smoothly back to the -ve terminal of the battery.

 

U might also consider grounding the rear of the car to improve the conductivity of the rear lights but I didn't do that.

 

Just b careful not to short the battery when u working.

 

Well for such a low cost & little time taken, u don't have much to lose actually.

Just connect a grounding wire to the metal body of the distributor.

 

It may even help to remove any static?

Very easy to do. Cost abt $5 only. I don't need those colourful blue/red wires. Just good heavy duty copper wires will conduct the small amount of current very easily.

 

I more concerned with it working right not fancy coloured wires. My car not a show car & who will see inside my engine bay except me & my mechanic anyway.
