After I complain Hyundai's price, all lower end car of Huyndai cut down price, Getz,Verna now is cheap. Verna 1.4M $40,000 based on 10k COE, so the price is $40,000+, cheaper than Rio. That's good news, go for Verna.

With CNY around the corner, I think it is very unlikely. then again, god knows what will happen. Who could ever predict the price of COE during these recent times.

After CNY, it's possible COE drop below 10k. Election is coming soon, heard government plan to cut down import tax, so I predict ARF will cut from 110% to 80%~90%, COE will drop to 7k~8k. If my prediction become true, the car price will drop another 5k~6k. Still waiting.

Hyundai is not honest in doning business. Kia/Toyota/Nissan always give 2 price, one for bid, other for immedicate COE, the difference is only 1~2k. This time Hyundai offer 7k reduction, but it's bidding, just temp ppl to order and ask to top later. Once you place deposit, god know how much will top.

All this means a lot of the recent car buyers with 1-2yrs old cars will be holding hard to them due to negative equity. The market will indeed become even softer. The recent buyers are either new car owners or owners ditching their COE cars!

Dude, you are seeing it from one side only. In the 1st place, Hyundai never force you to buy at that lowest price. If you are not confident of securing the COE, you can always buy at a higher price, with the advice of the SE/friends...

Why don't you look from it this way... Other companies give you one fixed price. How much they want to bid, they decide. Hyundai gives you a range of prices and YOU decide how much YOU want to buy. Simple reasoning: If you think COE is going to drop, buy low and save yourself some money. Otherwise, buy higher, secure the COE, and NOT top-up. So, if you choose to buy at the lowest price, even after consulting the SEs, you can't blame them for not getting the COE. Right? [angel]

Verna at $40K is not possible to secure one...the avg Basic price (Dec05) with $13K COE is $39K.

So Redeel..the base price is about $26K right? This is the price not including COE and markup right?

Yes, some bids failed the last round. However, the good news is that most of them secured! e.g. successful bid of Verna 1.6M at $45k price, Getz 1.6A 5dr at $47k price. =)

It was, for the Bid-As-You-Wish scheme that time. Now, we can't use that to predict bidding strength. Management decides what's best for them.
