Anyone try supercharging before?

I read this from somewhere, and it sounds reasonable to me, would like to get some opinion.

1. Assume the drive train experiences an X amount of torque stress in first gear on a stock engine.

2. Typically, the gear ratio difference between 1st gear and 2nd gear is about 1.5 times, let

The SC starts to spool in proportion to engine rpm but boost is not entirely linear. No positive pressure until about 2500-3000rpm depending on supercharge type. Then boost will increase linearly until some point where it holds or drops slightly. This is due to the efficiency of the supercharger and the engine rpm increasing hence more air is taken in by the cylinder.

Big pulley SC spins slower. Small pulley SC spin faster. Faster turbine = more boost.

In real life it never works out that way. The gearbox has a manufacturer tolerance and max torque if can run without exploding. For example, the automatic ZF HZ19 gearbox mated to the 2.5 and 3.0L E46 3 series, has a max operating tolerance of 325Nm coming out from the engine. You will need to find out exactly how much your gearbox can take and stay within the upper limit. Of course you can exceed, like me, but then you run the risk of the gears stripping.

There are many many SC BMWs out there. A 3L with SC can easily take on Evos and WRXs stand no chance against them. We have seen automatic SC 5 series beat modded WRX to quarter mile!

It's not just about bolting on the SC. There are other concerns like fuel pump, fuel pressure, injector size, ECU and etc. All these must be taken into account when going above 6psi on an NA engine.

Used to hear that an owner of a BMW 318i sedan supercharged his car till it could perform as well as a 325i. But wonder how he circumvent the viacom checks

cos SC u got to find the right model for each car....

otherwise have to import....

whereby for TC,the turbo is universal....

just need to customise the piping for diff cars...
