Guys, went to Carrefour Suntec yestrday and saw STP Injector Cleaner on sales at $6.90 per bottle. Got lotsa stock left on the shelf.

Best price I've ever bought before was $6.50 but that shop closed down already...[sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

So $6.90 is IMO a very good price to grab a few bottles if you do use this. [thumbsup]

Injector cleaner that you put into the tank is a double edge sword - it can help you clean , it can also chok up your fuel system if your tank is full of sediment and rust.

how is tat so? since the fuel injectors r by themselve very clean unless they r dirty, they can't bring more sediments, can they?

i would say neber pump in any station if u see a petrol truck there. tat's the time when the sediments is stirred up when the new fuel is pumped into the storage tank below.

If you have the opportunity to look into a fuel tank of five years old car and the fuel pump sediment filter you will have a better idea of why injector cleaner will cause more harm than good. Get hold of a used in-line fuel filter and cut it open and you will see the amount of sediment and foreign particles inside.

well, that has to do with dirty fuel.....what has it got to do with the cleaner?

The cleaner cleans the injector head. That's already after the fuel filter.

Or are u saying that the cleaner itself is dirty?

Actually no. You don't clean injectors unless you experience loss of power and all that sort of symptoms that tells you the fuel system needs servicing. Then again, you pray that it is not the fuel system because to clean injectors, you need to hire a professional that knows injectors and take them out for ultrasonic cleaning.

Even with carburation, I pray that it is not the carburetor acting up because it costs a bomb just to service the carburetor. Injectors no need to say.

Finally, usually fuel delivery systems are usually hard to clog up or spoil unless your fuel is very very poor quality like in former East Germany or now North Korea.

If anyone experiences loss of power or anything like that, my first suspect is never the fuel delivery but the ignition. That is easier to fix and troubleshoot first.

Supposed to be every 30k. The inline filter is cheap at $9-10. You can DIY if you like. I know where it is but it will require resetting your ECU and all because you have to disconnect the battery for safety. Else get those memory savers from Yeobh.

I don't think it is JB petrol. Lukie's filter when back flushed also has very fine sediments in it. She gets her petrol locally.

Might come on Wed.
