See who they partner with lah! Seng Siong won't jump into it. Maybe Dairy Farm Industries (Cold Storage, Giant, ShopNSave) might but I doubt it.

Not really sure about VIOS, I think it might take sometime for the ECU to get adjusted to the different grade of petrol.

maybe... infact, when i got my ride 2+yrs ago, i did tried out diff petrol to find one that match my engine and right leg....shell does not impress me at all... talking about ECU need time to adjust, i dont have huge fluctuation with pumping caltex, SPC, BP but shell shows it all obviously.... maybe their addictive doesn't work with my right leg... [laugh]

I'm not impress with Shell either, a long time fan for Esso/Mobil until I tried Caltex which won me over.

Another reason why I chose Caltex is from what I've figured out, Shell is the only company which has 4 types of petrol... RON92, RON95, RON98 and RON98++. They have to ensure that the 4 types of petrol would FEEL different to owners, if not, owners would pump the cheapest rite? Thus, I don't think I can get any performance out of Shell, which I don't, unless I use the more expensive Shell V Power.

For Caltex, they only have 3 types, RON95, RON98 and RON98++. They do not have that many pumps island wide, and if one were to use Caltex, they might need to make a special detour. IMHO, they have got to make their petrol and rewards appealing thus, I believe they put it quite a fair amount of additives into their RON95 to make it a little more powerful, which I felt, compared with the rest.

Disclaimer...different people/car different... done flame me :P

I'm usually on Caltex Silver (ron95). Out of the blue, did an experiment by pumping a 1/4 tank of Caltex Platinum (ron98++). One word... SHIOK ! Unfortunately, after reverting back to Caltex Silver, the car became unresponsiv and sluggish. Floor the pedal, it hardly have the urge to move forward. Took 1-2 tankful and about a week to normalise.

After 30 km on Caltex Platinum Techron, it seems that the engine is more responsive especially over the lower rpm range when practising economy driving. [nod]

However this can only be confirmed over a longer mileage [:)]

Whoa, you are the famous MCFer with two cars.. I should say with Mercedes Benz and Integra (Teg = Honda Intergra?). [sly]

What is Starcard? [dizzy]

I use Shell because of additional S$1 rebate for every S$30 spend with UOB credit card. [nod][nod]

Price war starts if one of the major petrol retailer noticed that they are losing market share and try to re capture the lost market share with a lower price. The other retailers would have to lower prices to match or risk losing market share and it goes on...

The major retailers are now engaged in a product differentiation campaign which if succesful can lead to a bigger market share hence petrol price is not expected to go lower.

caltex no good for my car....on thurs, i pump caltex gold with techron, i have been running for these few days, i noticed that my car needs alot harder to rev...must really pedal damn hardthumbsdown.gif...also realised that it became very diff to reach 100km/h...when it reach 100km/h, it will be more diff to reach 110km/h....sigh...no good frown.gif

think won't be trying caltex anymore...maybe my car (MAZDA 323) don't like caltex fuel...just wanna share with you guys my experience... happy trying guys...FYI guys, i was previously on Esso/Mobil 98 before trying caltex.

Neutral Newbie

maybe its the carbon cleaning in process? normal petrol should try for at least 3 tank to know its effect.

just my suggestion. have not try caltex yet too. was on Esso too. feel its good for my M2 SP

Gave in to the hype and pump full tank almost 3/4 of gold on top of spc 95. honestly speaking, no discernible diff driving to church, Ikea n back from east coast. maybe slightly smoother due to 98. rock my ass bro :-( wasted my $.
