Don't give in to the hype. Now Shell is promoting its FMT (friction modifier). Like to try? The only reason why I am not using Shell is because of its smelly exhaust. I can even tell whether a car is using Shell or not when it drives past me while I am walking. Other than that, no difference, unless yours is a performance engine designed to sense and take advantage of different octane ratings. For normal passenger cars, I would rather they start on alternative fuels like Ethanol. Brazil and some countries are already using bi-fuel (able to use both Ethanol and gasoline) cars in a big way. Some states in USA are also converting to bi-fuel.

caltex no good for my car....on thurs, i pump caltex gold with techron, i have been running for these few days, i noticed that my car needs alot harder to rev...must really pedal damn hardthumbsdown.gif...also realised that it became very diff to reach 100km/h...when it reach 100km/h, it will be more diff to reach 110km/h....sigh...no good frown.gif

think won't be trying caltex anymore...maybe my car (MAZDA 323) don't like caltex fuel...just wanna share with you guys my experience... happy trying guys...FYI guys, i was previously on Esso/Mobil 98 before trying caltex.

After 30 km on Caltex Platinum Techron, it seems that the engine is more responsive especially over the lower rpm range when practising economy driving. [nod]

However this can only be confirmed over a longer mileage [:)]

so far i've done 50,000 km liao... i feel that shell n caltex gives me the best mileage

Today from cbd went up to sembwang and down to cbd. no difference in feel, no additional power as some bros here touted for Techron. maybe it just works on older cars as my injectors and valves are relatively new. Mine is only 4 mths old JDM 1zzfe primed to take in unleaded regular which is 89 in Japan. Yup, cannot give in to hype.

I always use Shell V Power.

I tried Caltex Vortex Platinum but could not feel the difference so switch back to Shell V Power.

After 150 KM, Caltex Platinum Techron seems to live up to what its claimed to be, thus far.

Whoa, you are the famous MCFer with two cars.. I should say with Mercedes Benz and Integra (Teg = Honda Intergra?). [sly]

What is Starcard? [dizzy]

I use Shell because of additional S$1 rebate for every S$30 spend with UOB credit card. [nod][nod]

I used to do the same as you too. But $1 for $30 onlt about 3 % more. Now i use HSBC Platinium card, got additional 5% rebate from Caltex. So it is 10%+5%. More discount.

bro i tink u made a mistake...Techron is found in all grades of Caltex petrol. Be it Silver, Gold or Platinum. It's unlike the special premium grade of petrol like the V-power...
