Tohdj Neutral Newbie March 30, 2006 Share March 30, 2006 Hi all, i've a set of car amp and subwoofer which i don't intend to install in my car. so i'm thinking of using them to enhance my mini-hifi's sound effects. my questions is the amp needs 12VDC. i can put a transformer to step down from 240VAC to 12VDC, but what is the current to supply? AFAIK, transformers have a power rating...and P=VI. ↡ Advertisement
Headshok 1st Gear March 30, 2006 Share March 30, 2006 check your 12V power source how many amp it is. u can get the 22A one from sim lim tower, that should be just nice for a normal amp.
Tohdj Neutral Newbie March 30, 2006 Author Share March 30, 2006 hi, my amp does not have any label which indicates the power supply rating. only got a 12V label...and a 800W sticker on the top. It is a 4 channel amp. Is it possible to calculate the max current which this amp can take using these values? thanks in advance. ↡ Advertisement
