My vote Opel Astra and Ford Focus.

 

Point to note: The new Ford Focus has a surprisingly good following... And cos of that there are lots of accessories available too if you want to make it look special and improve drivability... [nod]

having heard a lot good comments on Ford Focus, I recommended my friend who is going to change his car to have a look at Ford Focus. He test drove the sedan FF and I was at the back seat. To my surprise, the test drive unit is very noisy on the move both from front and back. Totally disappointed!! I hope it is due to poor choice on tyre but this enough to delete FF from the list.

Never heard anyone complaining about noisy for Focus.

 

Anyway, I will take C4 or Opel Astra from the list. [thumbsup]

The rust proofing measures on the Focus seems to be rather lacking compared to the rest of the European makes. In Europe, it is not uncommon to see Focus with slight rust problems at the wheel arches at around 5 years of age.

 

At least in Austria, Ford is regarded as a car which suits motorists with a budget looking primarily for a big car but small on details. I have driven the Ford Focus C-Max (http://www.km77.com/marcas/ford/focus_03/c-max/med/06.jpg) on 2 occassions. Instead of fabric, hard plastics are used not only on all the door panels. (Ouch [sweatdrop], if you accidentally brush your elbows against the door panel), but also on certain portions of the dashboard. The door panels are moulded from multiple segments and put together with spot welding. On the whole, the car does not convey a strong feel of quality.

 

Compared to VAG engineered cars, Ford still has a long way to go, in my opinion.

I tested the new focus sedan before. Ya, it is kinda noisy, especially so at higher RPM.. It also feel underpowered, pickup is sluggish for a 1.6L. Even when i switch to SPORTS mode, i dun feel any difference (i dun exactly know wat is it for anyway). After the test drive i go look at the spec, only 99bhp. Did i see wrongly or remember wrongly? unimpressed.gif

Go for Focus ST!! [thumbsup]

Beat GTI, and many hot hatches in a review just 1-2 months ago. Cannot remember now.

 

Not sure if in Sgp though.

take a good look at the whole chunk of awards, then think if the rest of the cars u put down is even worth considering

That looks like the US made focus which is different from the Euro ones. So far haven't had any problems with th focus.

Yes it is indeed 100bhp +/-

Still the car is excellent at top speeds. But the focus forte is not in its outright power but its ability to take tight turns. Still its a joy to drive.

Skoda Octavia will be my choice....(owning one now) after test drove the Focus

 

If you can wait till July, you will see the new Octavia II...

 

Get the vRS if $$ no problem...heard only 2 units coming to our shore

Hey guys, thanks for all the comments and suggestions!!! Went to VW today to check out the new Passat. Falling in love with it man! My wife loves it too... Perhaps we can swing ourselves enough to spend that money instead. Saw the GTI, cool hatch.. tempting but I think a sedan would be better for me.

 

Went to see the Audi A4 after that. Not impressed with the interior on the face-lifted. Look almost the same as the last generation. Compared to the interior of the Passat, I thought the A4 interior looks a bit dated.

 

Anyone done a comparison between the A4 and Passat? Would love some comments on it.

hi, if you are considering the passat, you may also want to take a look at the skoda superb. they had a roadshow at millenia walk, took a look and i was impressed. think it should cost slightly over 80k, not sure though. if i were to look for a second car, this would be it.
