Guide on buying from PI

I havn't bought from PI before, but from some reading if i do i will follow as such:

 

1. Only buy from PI with ex-stock where I can see the car in their warehouse itself and know the chassis and engine no.

 

2. Get your own COE or go for immediate registration scheme

 

3. OMV - since ex stock make them right down the OMV amount, anything lower minus from price at 2.36 times the difference. Anything higher too bad.

 

4. Go for most basic model or if anything extra, write down black and white. If they refuse or too lazy to write, I write for them.

 

5. Extreme - Get the boss to sign on the contract instead of their SE

 

6. Extreme - Use handphone record down all conversation.

As first timers dealing with PI, we naively believed the SE that our OMV is between 21 to 23 k, as told to us. There is no black and white, but a verbal understanding to this contract. You never have to do that with Borneo Motors/KM, etc.

 

Looking back now, we are so foolish to be so trusting.

 

During car collection day, when we realised (by checking the online LTA website) that the OMV of our Wish FL X is only 19.7 k (and not at least 21 k), we went to talk to the (previously) very polite manager/Senoir SE.

 

As civilised people, we never resort to "bang-table", etc uncivilised tactics to bring across our point of contention, over a failed promise of a 21k OMV.

 

The (now) super-RUDE manager/Senoir SE (used to be very nice, polite when trying to get a deal earlier), did not even bothered to explain the apparent discrepency and just shouted:

 

"See our company lawyer".

 

Well, as we had no Black&White (smarten up after reading the wish Forum about "6-in-1", etc, and cannot turned-back-the-clock, we simply went off with our new FL Wish X.

 

Our intention is not to ruin their PI business, but this is not the way to do business and handle customers.

 

That's our buying experiences with Car Resources.

 

Sounds a little like my PI ....before sign, super nice, polite etc. After buy, NEVER call me about anything for more than 2 months. Now going into third month still no car - Shun Heng.

Actually not all PIs are bad ...... a few people who have dealt with Ricardo actually have good things to say about them. And they have good after sales service, too, unlike the majority of the PIs.

My colleague got his Camry yesterday (cos he need to convert his int'l license). From Ricardo if u remember. Everything swee swee, from day 1 after he booked, was informed of status of delivery, etc. I kaypoh went down with him. Workshop service looks good cos many other cars there. Technician very friendly and helpful. SE no need to say cos fellow bro wife so svs tip top. No hiccup. Everything done nicely incl given copy of English manual (although original manual in Japanese and my colleague is Japanese).

 

Very good like buying from agent like that. Wat can i say so u put 1 more star for Ricardo. Tks.

Agree with F4600, bought my car from Ricardo, so far so good, i finally see where the extra money is going to, eg the servicing and the free washing of the car. Usually for my service i do not even need to book as if i come in sat morning about 8:30 no is there.

 

Also brought my Wish for cleaning weekly, of course not as clean as personal washing but definitely much cleaner than bangra manual clean. parts in ricardo is also much faster as they carry mainly toyota parts only....

 

I think for Toyotas, Ricardo is proving they are a GOOD alternative to Borneo Motors ...

Don't ever get yourself into trouble.Me book on 22 Jan 06.Went thru 6 biddings and still no news. The best is my SE resign after my 2nd bidding.Then he ask me to look for his manager regarding my case.OK, fine.Guess what?After my last biddibg, 6th bidding, call the mangager asking him how is it? You will never expect what he told me.He said he had reisgned from CR already and ask me look for another manager. A lot of things went on, but finally got my refund back. But when I place my deposit using visa, I wasn't told that there will be a 3% charge.THerefore I only get back 97% of my deposit.So beware that sorry.

 

If that PI (CR) closes down .....what do you think will happen with the deposit? And in Jan the COE was $9K ...

2 of my frds bought their FIT from a big name PI called Pinnac** but all end up with bad experiences.... so now I'm think twice when i wan to get a car from PI. But i kinda of like FIT design beside Vios(too common and hate BM scv) lay.... shopping for car is really a headach task.

We are thinking of booking a Fit from them. Called them up for a test drive and they say no test drive allowed, unless we confirm buying. What logic is that? Dun test-drive, how to confirm?
