Neutral Newbie

With new technologies in coilovers, some of the ones that are adjustable are pretty good at balancing stiffness & ride comfort. I had BC's on my RB1 last year. Bad experience. Had to change them twice. First time, tubing spoilt just after 4 months. After that was changed, there was oil leak from both rear tubes all within less than 1 year. I thought I was the only one experiencing this but I found out from friends they had same problem. They either swopped back to OEM or switched to another brand. When it started leaking again, I got fed up & switched back to OEM. I heard from my workshop there's a new brand called PB Performance coming in to town. Magazine Reviews have been good in the UK & Japan. Maybe that's something worth considering.

Every single time I hits a bump or knocks over a hole on the road, there is a lot of noise and vibration. Like metal part hitting against car. However, the suspension is fine when going over a hump.. What could be the problem ?

How long ty last also depends on yr driving style.

Average 70-80k km n abt 3-4 yrs.

I changed mine at 6 yrs n abt 120k km. Although e front was still ok e back were worn n i usually change all 4 at one go.

The rubber mounts worn n cracked or nuts got loose.

Maybe its time to change yr shocks n rubber mounts too.

I recently bought my second-hand 3 years old forte a month ago. I dun think the previous owner had changed it.

Is this part and parcel of wear and tear and I need to have it replaced ?

Yes. Yr shock absorbers wil wear n become bouncy after some time. It wil affect yr handling n tire wear.

Usually ty start to wear by 50-80k km depending on how u drive etc.

If u r not sure if ty r worn get an honest n reliable mech to check fr u.

Better to replace with oem or original shocks fr normal day to day driving.

I wil change e front rubber mounts when i change my shocks just in case. U can get yr mech to chk fr u if ty need changing.

Thanks, any idea whats the cost ? Lets say I get it cheap from Min Ghee

I never bought fm min ghee b4.

Yrs is korean so u need to chk what is oem brand n search who in SG sells it.

Mine is optra. Also korean. I paid abt $70-80 ea fr oem. Original was abt $130ea.

Installation abt $25-30ea at most mechs.

After that u need to do e 4 wheel computerised alignment to get it straight.
