Fluffy Clutched September 28, 2006 Share September 28, 2006 it's based on the Chinese Passat where they sell a Long Wheel Base Passat. The Superb design is basically a Passat (previous gen) with skoda design rear lamps, front lamps and grill. interior is identical to previous passat also. Anyway, there is a limitation of what you can do with extra leg room too...i mean, after crossing the legs, that's it...no one can sit in front... but a wider car, at least 3 can sit comfortably side by side..... wonder if the new mondy is going to have bigger space, i can't wait for this weekend when they introduce the 2007 Mondeo (this 2007 is not a facelift ah, not like the 2007 Superb)at the Paris Motor Show. This is an all new Martin Smith designed mondy...... can't wait! ↡ Advertisement
Fluffy Clutched September 28, 2006 Share September 28, 2006 ah finally, someone who is objective. I like the superb too! but i'm trying to be objective as well, and when push comes to shove, for $86k, i know i can do better than the superb cos in s'pore, it isn't superb value or superb handling or has superb specs and features or even superb FC. It just has one of the largest rear leg room. with $86k you could by a Lexus equivalent Mark X with 2.5 V6 engine and higher OMV. i hope this brings the price of the superb into perspective. Tiewsh Neutral Newbie September 29, 2006 Share September 29, 2006 Well the modes mentioned in my thread are all auto trans, ie between Skoda Superb 1.8T Comfort model(Auto) vs. Volkswagen Passat 2.0FSI SE Model (Auto). Here is another comparison for basic model: (1) Skoda Superb 1.8T Classic Auto : Sterling Pound: 15,245 (2) Volkswagen Passat 2.0S FSI Auto: Sterling Pound: 15,727 Again, it shows Skoda Superb and Volkswagen Passat are priced at the same level in UK, yet satisfaction goes to Superb. Tiewsh Neutral Newbie September 29, 2006 Share September 29, 2006 Now let me show you a fact that external size does not translated directly into interior space, which is more important. Seat comfort for passengers depends on 3 key measurements: Leg room - Room in which to stretch the legs while seated, it decides on how comfortable you can place your leg while sitting in the car Head room

Koolaba 1st Gear September 30, 2006 Share September 30, 2006 Hi bro, We have no problems sitting 4 average sized adults at the rear seats of our Superb. Exterior dimensions of a car do not have a direct proportional correlation to the interior room offered by a car. For example, the Volvo S60 2.0T or T5. Dimensions of the S60: Length: 4,572 mm Width (body only): 1,804 mm Width (including mirrors): 2,057 mm Height: 1,397 mm Luggage capacity (seats up): 394 litres Luggage capacity (seats down): 807 litres Compared to the Superb's width of 1765 mm, there is no doubt that the Volvo S60 looks wider. However, does the wider body directly tranlsate to more interior room? Allow me to quote from a report from http://www.canadiandriver.com/testdrives/01s60.htm "In theory, the S60's extra width and longer wheelbase should make for a roomier cabin, but I didn't find that to be the case. Some of the S60's extra width is due to its wide 'hips', and though the roof is taller, it slopes down at more of an angle at the rear than the S70's. Tashi Clutched October 1, 2006 Share October 1, 2006 hi bro Tiewsh Finally the most objective explanation to put things in real perspective! Kudos and much thanks for so kindly compiling all these factual stats. My wife has been fetching quite a few Westerner guests and VIPs around, and none of them commented about "tight" space ranted by some. The car is very comfy in the cabin, especially for tall and larger built guests as well. bless tashi
Tiewsh Neutral Newbie October 1, 2006 Share October 1, 2006 hello bro, In fact I am very particular with car roominess. I am a 6 footer and always find myself squeeze at the back, even in popular mid size saloon. Some inconsideration drivers sometimes slide the front driver seat too far back and forgot about rear passenger. When I decide to buy a car few years back, this was one of the important consideration point. I was very suspicious when SA told me that Skoda Superb has the roomiest interior space, so I started to do some objective research. To my surpise, Superb has the superior space which is comparable to S Class and 7 series which are too far away from my reach. To date there are lots of Skoda Superb car

Koolaba 1st Gear October 1, 2006 Share October 1, 2006 Same sentiments shared here. To date, the Superb is the most satisfying car to own in our family. It has improved our perception that not all European cars are difficult and expensive to maintain, especially after our unpleasant ownership experience with another European brand, which takes pride in its myriad of safety features. Your collection of information on the Superb is indeed an eye-opener to many of us.
Beanoyip Turbocharged October 1, 2006 Share October 1, 2006 1 thing for sure is, the boot can't stack as much luggage as an octavia does.
Tashi Clutched October 1, 2006 Share October 1, 2006 hi bro Guess that's the difference between a hatch like Octy versus the Superb. But I find both cars having great boot space. Our Superb has a LOT of space left, even if wife's golf bags are in, gym bags with shoes are in. Still got space for a small stool for washing car. haha. bless tashi
Beanoyip Turbocharged October 1, 2006 Share October 1, 2006 I'm still sore by the fact i can't put a whole computer table into a Superb, which i did in an octy..

Fluffy, Mark X is certainly not that cheap at 86k. Don't talk about cash rebate and all those terms & conditions stuff. No loan, no rebate, it is at least $93k for the most basic model. Koolaba 1st Gear October 2, 2006 Share October 2, 2006 The removable rear parcel shelf of the Octavia does provide greater flexibility if you are carrying bulky stuff. This is the advantage of a hatchback design.
Fisheye Neutral Newbie October 2, 2006 Share October 2, 2006 Yup, Dont forget the running cost....2.4L rd tax is $2.1k yearly....1.8L only $1.2k...At least the 1.8T is moddable to 400bhp+ with the 7K savings... ↡ Advertisement
