OK as you all know, the CNG stations in Toh Tuck and other places are in some kind of impasse thanks to two agencies debating about the payment details.

I point you all to the original discussions.

This is the link to the conversion done by Scantruck.

You can contact Scantruck here: www.scantruck.com.sg

Scantruck's mod is more expensive at SGD4000. sweatdrop.gif

Then there is the discussions involving Melchers:

There is also a discussion in the VAG forum started by Dweller.

Some interesting details since I am a JB filler.

Using their Excel sheet to find out when I can expect a ROI.

Assuming I pump RON97, it will cost me SGD0.825200/L.

My car takes 7.69L/100km.

My mileage/yr is 30,000km.

Conversion price is SGD2000.

The payoff is -225mths! tongue.gif

Cost for the distance covered with petrol is 1903.74

Cost for distance covered with CNG is 2010.55

Savings of 106.81 per year with JB petrol. However, this might not last. Malaysia may have a petrol hike way past the MYR2.00/L barrier.

Now, assuming no hike and I go in once a week to get the JB petrol thanks to...ahem mods. sweatdrop.gif

Toll = (1.20 + 1.11752)*52 weeks a year = SGD120.51104

So the conversion actually is better than pumping in JB by a little bit. The main pay off is not contending with the Causeway's traffic which is good. Then if you happen to go across the Causeway, the JB CNG is half the price of the RON92 petrol which is around MYR0.63! dizzy.gif

This mod has a lot of goodness. Can eat until very full. laugh.gif

My Skoda can fit in 2 golf bag..so to me is no big deal at all.

Anyway my post have been removed.. [furious][furious][furious]

Well i have ask the person incharge about LTA approval letter..if there is any?

Now 1 worry is that LTA might come out with some new rule for conversion for petrol car. They claim that they will be fitting up 10 or 30 cars from a government department. How true yet to confirm.Presently only 1 car from NEA which is stated in the strait times.

Neutral Newbie

yeah, main concern is space.. past month been buying large objects, if not for my large boot, have to waste costly transport charges [:/]

and if a large tank across the boot, it makes my folding rear seats useless [:(]

Yalor, I confirm getting Melcher, probably the 2 x 25cm x 89cm cylinders than the 1 big cylinder type. I was told deposit is minimal. I already standby the "Hybrid" sticker but the installation will only happen in Dec if there is volume. Scantruck probably using composite steel, lighter hence costs more, just wild guess. Please take note that some insurance companies will impose extra loading if you're into CNG. I'm planning to sign up with Royal and SunAlliance this month, which has no extra loading for CNG converted car.

Regards,
