Right now the sound in his car is sort of crappy (to me anyway). Will it make much difference in sound quality if he just replaces the front pair with component speakers? Without installing an amplifier. Coz he's not into ICE and not planning to spend too much or have too many things installed in his car.

Yes

Just change front component speakers is the biggest sound improvement with the smallest amount of money.

The difference is night and day.

The second most bang for buck is add amp. That one a 80 pr 100 dollar Sony or Pioneer will do.

But just change the speakers is good enough.

:D

Yes I just changed my front to Focal component, at least 40-50% improvement, If can add a simple amp will be great.

If you take out the stock speaker, you will realise that a strong wind will blow them away. The material use in the speaker are very cheapo stuff.

Neutral Newbie

Hi bro Jamesc,

I had taken your advise and ordered a pair of Helix F 62c speakers.

If I still got $150 -200 to spare, would u suggest me getting (A) or (B) ?

A) Cheap amp as your above recommendation  (what’s the difference between 2 / 4 Channel)

B) Pioneer under seat subwoofer (WX130DA) think it comes with built in amp and it’s quite popular

I mentioned in my previous post that I will be keeping my stock HU and since I am not into ICE, this might be my only upgrade.... so I wanted to do a “once and for all”
installation.

Thanks in advance for your kind advice

That's a tough choice because I love bass but I also love an amp to drive the F62Cs.

Having said that the underseat sub only produces a bit of extra mid bass which is fine for some people but it doesn't produce a lot of deep bass.

So the best solution is spend the 150 - 200 on a 4 channel amp and use 2 channel to drive the F62Cs one channel for the left speaker and one for the right. Chances are the amp will drive the F62Cs with enough mid bass to satisfy most people.

This is also a future proof solution in case you want more bass in future you can use the 2 spare channels to drive a sub. You can bridge the 2 channels into one channel to drive a sub with twice as much power.

I have a Helix G Four but its out of the 150 - 200 price range but Carousell has Helix B Four below 200 because that is one generation older but the inside is almost the same.

Its a bargain price but if you get it you must test it first to make sure its working as its a few years old but brand new.
