Santa Neutral Newbie October 19, 2006 Share October 19, 2006 (edited) on my previous car i use it for one year and then scrap my car, clock about 19,000 km and the quietness still last, and thread wear also lasting only downside on this yokohama tyre is the road holding for wet surface (not very good, if e-brake too suddent can skid ....so if u chose this tyre wet weather no play play...(anyway cannot have best of both world). now on my this current new ride - i also change away the stock tyre for yokohama geolander (suv tyre) - very quiet and enhance the steering feel. Imaginary 1st Gear October 20, 2006 Author Share October 20, 2006 I see. Thanks. Been hearing about how quiet this tyre is, so thought of trying it out.
Rickster 5th Gear October 20, 2006 Share October 20, 2006 Aspec DB is old model liao, very few places selling it. Get the Aspec DB DNA, its the newer version and apparently has improved road-holding during wet weather. I'm currently using my Aspec DB (195) on my 15-inch rims for 7 months liao. So far no problems during wet weather @ all. Coz i just drive normally as I don't drive my car like rally.
Imaginary 1st Gear October 20, 2006 Author Share October 20, 2006 Yeah, read and got feedback from a friend about the improved road holding. How's the noise like on the rougher roads? Or is it that for the rougher roads, all/most tyres will sound the same?
Rickster 5th Gear October 20, 2006 Share October 20, 2006 On rough roads, eg. Jurong area of AYE, the sound will be jsut as loud as other tyres.
Wham Neutral Newbie October 26, 2006 Share October 26, 2006 bro if you ever use the yoko dna db tires, just bear in mind that it is listed as COMFORT tire, so dont push it. for normal driving (that means to observe and stay within the speed limit) you should not have any issue. btw i'm currently using it on my 7th gen civic. Kanchelsk 2nd Gear October 26, 2006 Share October 26, 2006 ya.. thread gone veri fast.. but better control and grip with tis tyre.. think better grip = wear off faster... kena chopped $115 each including alignment, balancing, free rotation, nitrogen...
Santa Neutral Newbie October 26, 2006 Share October 26, 2006 what size u have - if your is 16 inch then 115 is cheap...u go stamford tyre ? by using nitrogen - is it really do not have to top up and the pressure can maintain for months ?
Kanchelsk 2nd Gear October 26, 2006 Share October 26, 2006 no only 15 inch.. 195/55R15 84V... thats y i say kena chopped by stamford tyres... i never go back again... nitrogen so troublesome has to go back pump... n i dun see a difference between normal air n nitrogen... go other workshop they charge between $5- $10 for nitrogen... siao... i already pump normal air into my tyre liao... no more stamford tyre conning trick for me anymore... prefer pxx xxxg at amk in future... Santa Neutral Newbie October 26, 2006 Share October 26, 2006 WOW 15 INCH 195/55 profile so expensive ...is falken u know not michellin or continental. i ever enquire at stamford but they give me a con-look salemanship so i never buy from them. Kanchelsk 2nd Gear October 26, 2006 Share October 26, 2006 too bad la.. i know i conned liao.. haha... so accept the fate la.. no more stamford in future.. sucks...
Santa Neutral Newbie October 26, 2006 Share October 26, 2006 if u want yokohma tyre - go to this jurong kechil - lian huat tyre shop - the boss is call peter aka ah xiao - he really act blur quote u high high but can bargain with him low low....hahahaha - like what other forumers say u must be more xiao than him to get good price. actually now singapore expressway is so well paved (Thanks to IMF) no need quiet tyre - all tyre i think also equally quiet on a well paved road, but if u kenna a road bomb by clyamore mines - the noise level also same same even u use yokohama or michellin (just my 5 cents worth). now silent been promoting their wheel arc and fender package to do the sound insulation, i wonder how much it helps... Kanchelsk 2nd Gear October 26, 2006 Share October 26, 2006 ya lor... its a once bitten twice shy experience... jus like the following experience since i bought my car last nov... philips crystal vision... not as bright as wat is advertised... yellow light become white only... pivot raizen VS... said to improve mileage n light brightness... totally useless... no difference at all... caltex platinium/Vpower... said to give more power n mileage... yah really very powerful... but the mileage suffers... so pros n cons... falken ST115.. quiet n sports performance... wher got quiet at all... sports? ya... use up more rubber to grip the road... of cos more grip... useless investment... sign up for the CARS paint n sealant protection package $1300 for 10 grooming session... totally bull sxxt ah... after few rain session the sealant like dissolved liao... most hearbreak experience i had so far... waste of $$$... must faster used up the package if not the shop closed down got no refund... the most worth things is the 3M nomad car mats that i bought from chris... after my experience with my first car... i really believe the same old saying... stick to stock car the best... Kanchelsk 2nd Gear October 26, 2006 Share October 26, 2006 i think dB is a decent tire for singapore road.. my ST115 suppose to be quiet.. but not as good as dB...
Santa Neutral Newbie October 26, 2006 Share October 26, 2006 well said, stock is always the best otherwise dealer would have signed contract with those aftermarket gadgets to gain monopoly. as the days go by, there are lots of smart alec out there trying to con new first time owning driver as past 2 year new car price been cheap - somore if u never own a car or drive different type of car u keen to boast or poison to the maximium to get maximium. on my first car, i spend quiet alot on this gadget but find none useful. on my second car, i spend on minor modification like CAI - also useless (with our singapore weather - how cold can the air get even if it is direct...??? and assuming it does get abit of cool air let say by 5 deg celsius - how much does it help the car ???) On my third car current car, i do nothing...because if u are stock - can bang table on dealer if something screw up...one mod only u lost your rights to bang instead kenna bang back. Even new car dealer workshop like to give lip-service and i really drilled them back. Infact today just done my 5k servicing at one well know korean car dealers place along alexander. My car's air-con got foul smell - i ask him what have u done to rectify he say : 'only blow the air duct and clean the filter'. I rebuke him by saying how much does a piece of filter cost ? ($48 only) Why can't u guys change the whole piece as it cost me more opportunity cost to come down to see u again if same problems occurs. On my 1k servicing i complain to them about door unable to close properly they just tell me nothing wrong but apply lubricant for me to see it helps. Today i drilled them and tell him straight on his face, dun give me any more lip service and pls rectify - so far they do some adjustment and rectify the problems. So the theory here is that unless u really have your ways to sought out new car hitches otherwise stick to stock. You married your wife as she is and u cannot expect her to go for comestic surgery after marriage just to entice u more right ??? but some comestic is ok...heheheh all those fuel saving gadget, voltage stabilizer are like comestics...maybe it does help but generally very minor. if u have deep pocket then is fine to make yourself abit happy. dun spent so much liao la...better save money and prepare for petrol hike if any.. i do share same sentiments - caltex petrol and spc very power but mileage very screw up... now i am driving a guzzler i dun ever dare to think of caltex or spc...am happy with shell. ↡ Advertisement
